But you know what, this 3-star spot surprised me in all the right ways. It’s one of those places where the name doesn’t really tell the story, but the location absolutely does. And honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re traveling – less Shakespeare, more substance.

The thing about this place is it really nails that sweet spot between being right in the thick of things without making you feel like you’re sleeping inside a nightclub. I mean, you’ll hear some street noise (it’s central, after all), but nothing that a decent pair of earplugs can’t handle. What I actually loved was how easy it made getting around – you can walk to most places you’d want to see, and when your feet give out, there are plenty of transport options right outside your door. The wifi, which they proudly advertise in the name, actually lives up to the billing. I worked from the room a couple mornings and didn’t want to throw my laptop out the window even once, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed.

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 3-star. Clean, functional, with that slightly generic hotel furniture that somehow works. Nothing’s going to blow you away, but nothing’s going to disappoint you either. The staff seemed genuinely helpful – not in that overly scripted way, but like they actually wanted to point you toward good spots nearby. I appreciated that they didn’t try to oversell the place or make promises they couldn’t keep. With a 7.8 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which is refreshing in a world full of boutique hotels that charge boutique prices for basically the same experience. If you need somewhere reliable, well-located, and honest about what it offers, RomeoHouse delivers without the drama.

  The flat was really stylish and comfortable and really well-equipped. We didn't use the washing machine but I'm sure some guests would really like that.
  
  What could be improved: Everything about the flat was great. The only minor thing was that we had a bit of difficulty seeing the digits on the padlock so it took us a bit of time to get into the room.

  Amazingly close to the Arena di Verona, on a quiet small street right in the old city. At the same time, good value for money. We had everything needed, it was clean and comfortable. Check-in and out were organized without meeting the owner, but everything worked smoothly and well. I would stay there again next time I go back to Verona.

  What could be improved: A few niggles that detracted from the overall experience e.g. some basic items missing from kitchen (teaspoons, tea towel, corkscrew etc), very hard to access the property on arrival due to key safe being virtually impossible to read in the near darkness of the entrance hall. Bathroom very dated and felt a bit grubby as a result. No nightstands. Not to be petty, just irritating little things that stopped us from eating the property more highly
