Rooms Castelvecchio – Palazzo Canossa Overview

You know what really struck me about Rooms Castelvecchio – Palazzo Canossa? The moment you step inside, you’re basically walking into a piece of Verona’s aristocratic history – and I mean that in the best possible way. This isn’t one of those places that just throws around words like “palazzo” for marketing effect. This is the real deal, housed in an actual 16th-century noble residence that somehow manages to feel both grand and genuinely welcoming.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Verona like locals do rather than just ticking off the tourist boxes. You’re literally a stone’s throw from Castelvecchio (hence the name), but what I really loved was how you’re positioned right in that sweet spot where residential Verona meets the historic center. I’d walk out in the morning and grab coffee at the little bar around the corner where nobody spoke English – which, honestly, made it feel more authentic. The whole Corso Cavour area has this energy that’s hard to describe… it’s busy without being touristy, if that makes sense.

What really sets this place apart though is how they’ve handled the restoration. I mean, you’re staying in rooms that probably housed Venetian nobles centuries ago, but they’ve managed to blend modern comfort without destroying the soul of the building. The ceilings are something else – original frescoed details that you’ll find yourself staring at instead of checking your phone. Actually, the whole experience feels sort of like staying at a cultured friend’s family palazzo, especially when you consider that 9.2 rating isn’t just a number – you can feel it in the attention to detail everywhere. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure you understood what made their city special, not just where to find the nearest gelato shop (though they’ll help with that too, obviously). Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town – it’s that classic Italian city center situation – but honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to drive anyway. Everything worth seeing is walkable, and there’s something really satisfying about ending your day exploring Verona’s backstreets and then retreating to your own little corner of a Renaissance palace.

  • Rosamaria from United States – 23 October 2024 (10/10)

Location excellent! Beautiful historic 16th century palace with modern amenities; elevator, heat, beautiful big shower and super comfy bed. View of the sunset was spectacular… Anna our hostess was lovely and helpful from the beginning to the end of the short trip. Step out the front gate and whether you go left or right, you'll find great restaurants, shopping, and people watching! Chose Verona after train trip from Berlin & Munich to Milan. Much more peaceful than Milan! Wish we had done an extra day in Verona to visit Lago di Garda…

What could be improved: There are about 10-12 stairs to get to the elevator so if you are unable to climb any at all, this is a consideration. We used both stairs and elevator at different times with no issue.

  • Barb from United States – 5 October 2024 (10/10)

Our Super-host, Anna, provided outstanding service during our stay in Verona! To stay at an architectural masterpiece, built in 1530, with an elevator and modern conveniences, was a real treat! Great location & a beautiful location.

What could be improved: I honestly can’t think of anything.
