Rooms Castelvecchio – Palazzo Canossa Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Rooms Castelvecchio – Palazzo Canossa on Corso Cavour, you immediately sense you’re somewhere special. This four-star property sits in what I’d call the absolute sweet spot of Verona — close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away on a street that actually feels livable rather than touristy. The building itself has that understated elegance that Italian palazzos do so well, and honestly, the entrance gives you just enough of a hint of the history waiting inside without being overwhelming about it.
Location That Actually Makes Sense
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Castelvecchio (hence the name), and the Arena di Verona is close enough that you can pop back to your room between sightseeing and dinner. But you know what really sold me? The fact that couples consistently rate this location a 9.9, and I get why. There’s something romantic about being able to stroll through Verona’s historical center without fighting crowds every step of the way. Plus, having private parking available on-site is actually a game-changer if you’re driving — trust me, finding parking in Italian historic centers can be a nightmare.
The Rooms and Comfort
The accommodations here strike that perfect balance between historical character and modern comfort. You’re staying in a palazzo, so expect high ceilings and those architectural details that remind you you’re somewhere with serious history, but everything feels fresh and well-maintained. The rooms aren’t huge by modern hotel standards, but they’re thoughtfully designed — I mean, this is Italy, where they’ve mastered the art of making smaller spaces feel perfectly proportioned rather than cramped.
What Sets It Apart
What really impressed me was how the staff seemed to genuinely understand what travelers need. They’re not just going through the motions — they actually know the neighborhood and can point you toward that perfect little restaurant that locals frequent, or help you time your visit to avoid the worst crowds at major sites. The property maintains that boutique feel where you’re not just another room number, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to navigate a new city.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.2 rating, this place clearly gets the fundamentals right, but it’s those little extras that stick with you. The location score of 9.9 isn’t just marketing speak — you really can walk everywhere that matters in Verona’s historical center, then retreat to a peaceful base that doesn’t feel like you’re camping out in the middle of a tourist zone. Whether you’re planning romantic evenings or just want to explore Verona at your own pace, Rooms Castelvecchio – Palazzo Canossa gives you that rare combination of authentic Italian atmosphere and practical modern comfort that makes a trip memorable for the right reasons.

Location excellent! Beautiful historic 16th century palace with modern amenities; elevator, heat, beautiful big shower and super comfy bed. View of the sunset was spectacular… Anna our hostess was lovely and helpful from the beginning to the end of the short trip. Step out the front gate and whether you go left or right, you'll find great restaurants, shopping, and people watching! Chose Verona after train trip from Berlin & Munich to Milan. Much more peaceful than Milan! Wish we had done an extra day in Verona to visit Lago di Garda…
What could be improved: There are about 10-12 stairs to get to the elevator so if you are unable to climb any at all, this is a consideration. We used both stairs and elevator at different times with no issue.Barb from United States – 5 October 2024 (10/10)
Our Super-host, Anna, provided outstanding service during our stay in Verona! To stay at an architectural masterpiece, built in 1530, with an elevator and modern conveniences, was a real treat! Great location & a beautiful location.
