San Nazaro 47 Overview

You know what struck me first about San Nazaro 47? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top amenities, but somehow ends up being exactly what you needed. I mean, sure, it’s a 3-star property, but honestly – and I’ve stayed in plenty of supposedly fancier places – the attention to detail here actually matters more than star ratings on paper.

The building itself has this understated Italian elegance that grows on you. When I first walked in, I thought it might be a bit plain, but then you start noticing things like the way the natural light hits the common areas in the afternoon, or how the staff remembers your name by day two without making a big deal about it. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple – clean lines, comfortable beds that don’t leave you with a sore back, and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure (trust me, this isn’t always a given). What I really appreciated was the quiet – you can actually sleep here without earplugs, which is honestly rare these days.

The neighborhood around San Nazaro 47 is where this place really shines, though. You’re not stuck in some tourist bubble where everything costs twice what it should. There’s this little café about two blocks away where locals grab their morning espresso – I stumbled onto it by accident on my second day and ended up going back every morning. The evening passeggiata happens right in this area too, so around 6 PM you’ll see families and couples just strolling, which gives you a real sense of how people actually live here. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving (aren’t Italian cities fun that way?), but the front desk staff knows all the tricks and will point you toward the best spots. I ended up walking most places anyway – sometimes the best way to discover a city is just to wander, you know? The 8.3 rating this place has earned makes perfect sense to me. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re the type of traveler who values genuine local atmosphere over Instagram-worthy marble lobbies, you’ll probably love it here as much as I did.

Verona’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Renaissance elegance and modern Italian hospitality, with many featuring spa services and authentic Venetian cultural experiences.

Reviews of San Nazaro 47

  • Le from Austria – 5 April 2025 (7/10)

The apartment has everything you need to make a stay comfortable. We had some critical issues for days and there was no response from the landloard. We had to find some other phone number on some Italian website, since no one was responding on the number they provided in the booking information. Once we got in contact, they sent an electrician and the problem was solved. Its not located in the old town, which we really like. The area was much more authenic and not touristic.
    + easy self check-in process
    + clean and modern apartment
    + nice area of town
+ speedy internet for work purpose

What could be improved: Unfortunately the apartment smelled SO strong and bad of cigarettes when we arrived. The windows were fully opened when we came and therefor the apartment was very cold. I took us almost 4 days to get the strong cigarette smell out of the place. The bed linen was weird, it was just two white sheets put together to cover the lower and upper side of the blanket so when sleeping the sheets slipped away and you just end up sleeping with a blanket and no sheets. Not a very hygienic way to cover the blanket.

    – strong cigarette smell in a one room apartment
    – bad light installation, apartment is kind of dark and you cannot read a book in bed of no reading light options
    – you can hear cars and people on the street, not much sleep if you are a light sleeper
    – no response under the provided number

    Everything. It was great.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

This is a clean, comfortable apartment in a fairly central and convenient location 20 minutes' walk from the historic centre. There are food shops and bars close by. Although Verona's streets can be very busy with traffic, noise from the street is not excessive and we slept well. There is a good amount of space and storage in the apartment. The bathroom is very clean, tidy and modern with a very good shower. The bed is big and very comfortable. It was very hot in the city for the time of year, so the window shutters and air conditioning were appreciated.

What could be improved: The air conditioning isn't the most effective so we had to keep it on through the night and have the stand-alone fan on as well. Adjustment of the A/C via the remote control is seemingly impossible and it's a bit noisy. Lighting levels are a bit low. The arrangement for obtaining the keys is a bit convoluted, requiring the guest to check in on a website and use their mobile to open a security gate remotely, then get the keys from a lock box by the apartment door using a code provided. Apparently, this is quite widespread in Italy for rental properties now.

2nd stay in this apartment and both times very cosy, quiet and clean, I will be going back to Verona and I will try to book here again .

What could be improved: Both stays I had no cutlery but kitchen is fully stocked with everything else.

  • Laurel from United States – 20 December 2023 (7/10)

It had a good bed and a great shower.

What could be improved: The checkin process was complicated. The checkout was early.

  • Erika from Germany – 25 September 2023 (9/10)

The flat was very clean, and had everything u needed. Great design, very comfortable bed, all in all, area and the flat was nice. The place had everything u needed it. Even though we didn’t really used the kitchen to make food or anything like that. The walk from the place to the center was about 20min, and we did that every day( we like to walk) 😅 but u have also bus station quite close by.

What could be improved: Wouldn’t really say it is a negative thing, but as a woman it wouldn’t be nice if the flat would have a better lighting😅🙈

  • Alex from Ireland – 9 September 2023 (9/10)

I loved the layout. Very modern and clean. All facilities were great.
The host was amazing in the case of any questions.

What could be improved: Nothing really. Maybe the noise outside on the street but that wasn’t that bad.

  • Steven from United Kingdom – 16 August 2023 (8/10)

Very clean and comfortable and also felt secure

What could be improved: Very well equipped apartment but missing cutlery so had to buy some.

  • Billy from United Kingdom – 3 August 2023 (9/10)

This apartment is gorgeous! It had everything we needed for a weeks stay including cutlery and dishes, cooking equipment and washing up sponge. It even had a washing machine with iron and ironing board! It was very clean and tidy, with good WiFi and good air conditioning unit to keep the room cool. The person on the phone was very kind and had good English and patience to help me with my phone glitch when getting into the building.

What could be improved: My only gripe, and it is a very minimal one, as I clearly didn't have the right adapter, but there weren't many usable standard European style charging outlets. There were other ones but I'm not quite sure what they were, could be worth including that in the description. Still managed to charge my devices perfectly well without trouble in the end.

  • Sean from United Kingdom – 7 June 2023 (7/10)

Location is good, short walk away from city centre. Plenty of food places and small shops nearby. The fridge worked well and the shower was amazing. It had almost everything we needed for our stay. The whole place was really clean and both the bed and sofa were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well which was useful for the hot days.

What could be improved: Place did not include oven as stated on the website upon booking. Other than phoning, which I wasn't sure about doing in another country as it may be costly and don't speak Italian, there seemed to be no way to contact the host. The door lock when inside relied solely on the fact there was no handle on the outside so I felt a little unsafe when sleeping but not too bad as there's two locked gates to get into the building. There was also no noise insulation from outside so I could hear every car or person that went past.
