They’re not just going through the motions with tourist recommendations – these people actually live in the area and can point you toward the kind of spots you’d never find in a guidebook. I remember asking about where to get coffee in the morning, and instead of directing me to the nearest chain, they told me about this tiny local place two blocks over where the owner roasts his own beans. That’s the kind of detail that makes a difference when you’re trying to get a real feel for a place rather than just checking tourist boxes. The apartments stay surprisingly quiet even during busier periods, and there’s something to be said for having your own space to spread out after a day of exploring. Plus – and this might sound minor but it’s not – the Wi-Fi actually works consistently throughout the building, which is more than I can say for some supposedly luxury hotels I’ve experienced. The whole setup just works without any fuss, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
