Check-in was smooth as silk, and they gave me this little handwritten note with restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the tourist traps – I’m talking about places where locals actually eat.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail that perfect balance between authentic character and modern comfort. The rooms have these gorgeous original architectural details – think exposed beams and beautiful stonework – but the beds are absolutely divine and the bathrooms are completely updated. You’ll sleep like a baby here, trust me. The whole property feels intimate without being cramped, and even when they’re fully booked, it never feels crowded or chaotic. I stayed during what I later learned was peak season, but the common areas always felt peaceful. The breakfast spread is genuinely impressive too – fresh local pastries, perfectly ripe fruit, and coffee that’ll ruin you for the airport stuff forever. They source a lot of their ingredients locally, and you can taste the difference.

The location is brilliant in that sneaky way where you’re close to everything that matters but far enough from the crowds to actually enjoy yourself. I could walk to the main sights easily, but when I came back in the evenings, it felt like stepping into a completely different world – quieter, more authentic, more… well, Italian, if that makes sense. The neighborhood around it has these little family-run shops and cafes that most tourists never find. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free too, which anyone who’s driven in Italy will tell you is basically a miracle. With a 9.7 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but this place genuinely exceeded my expectations. It’s the kind of hotel that makes you want to plan your next trip back before you’ve even left.
