This three-star property sits quietly in one of Verona’s most coveted spots, tucked into a historic building that feels more like a well-kept secret than a tourist accommodation. The entrance is understated, which I actually appreciated after dealing with the crowds at some of the flashier places around the city center.

Location Magic

Here’s what you need to know about the location — it’s absolutely everything. You’re literally in the heart of Verona’s historical center, which means you can stumble out the door and be at Piazza delle Erbe in about three minutes on foot. I mean, couples rate this location 9.8 out of 10, and after staying here, I completely get why. You’re close enough to hear the evening buzz from the piazzas, but far enough down a quieter street that you won’t be kept awake by late-night revelers. The narrow cobblestone streets around Scaligero Rooms are exactly what you picture when you think of romantic Italian cities.

The Rooms

The rooms themselves are clean and thoughtfully designed, though don’t expect anything overly fancy — this is a three-star place, after all. What struck me was how well they’ve worked with the building’s historic bones while keeping everything modern and functional. The bathrooms are compact but efficient, and you know what? The beds are actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given in older Italian buildings. There’s good natural light during the day, and the rooms stay surprisingly cool even in summer heat.

Getting Around

One thing I really appreciated was how walkable everything becomes when you’re staying at Scaligero Rooms. Juliet’s balcony is maybe a five-minute walk, the Arena di Verona is close enough that you could easily catch an evening performance and walk back without thinking twice about it. The Adige River is right there too, perfect for those early morning or sunset strolls that make you feel like you’re living in a postcard. You really don’t need taxis or buses when you’re this centrally located — everything worth seeing is within easy walking distance.
