Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to Shiny Home Verona on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s starting to buzz with tourists but the air still has that crisp, post-winter bite. It’s tucked away on Via Verde da Salizzole in Borgo Roma, which isn’t the postcard-perfect historic center with the Arena and all that, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Borgo Roma’s more of a lived-in neighborhood, with locals grabbing espresso at corner bars and kids playing soccer in the parks nearby – think of it as Verona’s quieter south side, just a quick 10-minute drive or bus ride from the Adige River bridges that lead straight into the old town. I mean, if you’re driving in from the A4 highway (which I did, coming from Milan), it’s a breeze to find, and there’s actually decent street parking around – not the nightmare you’d expect in Italy, though I’d snag a spot early if you’re here during the Vinitaly wine fair at Veronafiere, which is like, a stone’s throw away and turns the whole area into a madhouse in April.

What really won me over was how the place feels like a sleek, modern apartment building pretending to be a hotel – shiny and spotless, yeah, but with these thoughtful touches that make you feel at home. The rooms are spacious, with those big windows letting in tons of natural light (mine overlooked a little garden patch, which was a nice surprise), and the beds? Super comfy, like sinking into a cloud after a day wandering Verona’s cobbled streets. Breakfast is served in this bright communal area downstairs – nothing fancy, but the fresh croissants and cappuccinos hit the spot, and there’s always a whiff of brewing coffee that perks you up. Staff were friendly without being over-the-top; the front desk guy even chatted with me about the best local spots for cicchetti (those Venetian-style tapas) over in nearby San Zeno – well, sort of, he pointed me to a hidden gem on Via Porta San Zeno that tourists rarely find. That said, it’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi can be a tad spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and if you’re sensitive to noise, you might hear the occasional scooter zipping by on the street outside, though it’s pretty quiet after 10 PM. Oh, and check-in was smooth as silk; I arrived late, and they had my room ready with a little welcome note – small things like that matter when you’re jet-lagged.

All in all, if you’re looking for a solid 4-star stay that’s got an 8.7 rating for a reason, Shiny Home Verona is a smart pick, especially for families or couples who want to dip into Verona’s romance without the constant crowds of the centro storico. It’s affordable, authentic, and gives you that insider feel – like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in summer when the nearby parks are blooming and you can bike along the river paths. Just pack light; the elevators are on the smaller side, you know?

Reviews

  • Nice flat in Verona suburb, tastefully renovated rooms, nicely equipped – Gatsy from Hungary – 15 July 2025 (9/10)

The videos for using the code were really useful, but the manual did not translate to any language except to Italian (also could not copy the text to Google Translate).
Anyway we managed to figure out what to do and after it it was really convenient to use the application to get in the apartement

    What could be improved: –

  • Lovely little apartment – Stephanie from United Kingdom – 14 July 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is lovely and very spacious. We are a family of 4 but it has the potential to fit many more people so very suitable for larger families. Nice little quiet area. We loved verona!

Spacious rooms, nice furniture, bright apartment, good location.

What could be improved: Door opening instruction is a bit confusing, but still manageable.

  • Great for larger families – Michelle from Australia – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

Great kitchen with everything you need. Free parking. Second bedroom was large and easily fitted 3 single beds, great for a family of 5. Washing machine and dryer are so nice to have, thank you!

What could be improved: There really needs to be a lounge chair to relax on when watching TV.

  • Exceptional – Csilla from Romania – 21 August 2024 (10/10)

This apartment has a cosy, modern design. I specifically appreciated the online check-in process. The washing machine and dryer was also a plus. Maria was very helpful she made sure we had everything, even cot, child seat and some toys for our little ones. Parking just out in front of the building was convenient. I would happily return to this accommodation.

  • Excellent location with plenty of parking. – Igor from Croatia – 3 June 2024 (10/10)

Spacious and clean apartment with plenty of parking around it at any time of the day. Great choice if you come to Verona by car and with family. City center garage is only 7-8 mins away by car. Precise instructions for check-in and check-out.
    Excellent value for money.
