There’s a fantastic little osteria just around the corner that I never would have found if I’d been staying in one of those big hotels near the train station, and the morning coffee at the café across the street became part of my daily routine. The hotel staff pointed me toward some genuinely good local spots too – not just the obvious tourist traps. Actually, that’s probably what I appreciated most: they treated me like someone who wanted to experience the real Verona, not just check boxes on a sightseeing list.   It was perfect for the train station. We were only staying one night and getting an early train so it was good to be so close but the area around the entrance was a bit rough
