When I asked about avoiding crowds at the Arena, the desk clerk actually gave me specific timing advice that worked perfectly. The rooms are spacious by Italian standards (and I’ve stayed in enough cramped European hotels to appreciate this), with these gorgeous marble bathrooms that feel almost spa-like. What I loved most was the attention to soundproofing – you’d think being in the city center would mean dealing with noise, but honestly, once those windows are closed, it’s remarkably quiet.

Here’s the thing about the location though – it’s not right in the thick of the tourist chaos, but you’re still walking distance to everything that matters. I could easily stroll to Piazza delle Erbe in the morning before the tour groups descended, grab an aperitivo near the river in the evening, and never once felt like I needed to figure out public transport or worry about expensive taxi rides back. The breakfast spread is actually worth waking up for (rare for hotel breakfasts, let’s be honest), with proper Italian coffee and fresh pastries that taste like they came from a local bakery rather than some industrial kitchen. I did notice the service can be a bit slower during peak season – we’re talking August here – but the staff never seemed rushed or dismissive, which counts for a lot. With a 9.6 rating, I was expecting something special, and it delivers without feeling pretentious about it. If you’re the type who wants luxury but also wants to feel like you’re experiencing the real Verona rather than some sanitized hotel version of it, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.
