Hotel Description
I remember pulling up to Studio 27 Verona on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when the cherry blossoms are just starting to pop along the Adige River, but the tourist crowds haven’t fully swarmed in yet. It’s tucked right into Piazza Pozza in the San Zeno district, which honestly feels like Verona’s best-kept secret if you’re not into the hustle of the city center. I mean, it’s only a 15-minute stroll over to the Arena for an opera night, but here you’re surrounded by those old stone buildings and little osterias where locals grab their morning espresso. Parking was a bit of a hassle – narrow streets and all – but they have a few spots reserved out back, which saved me from circling forever like I did near Castelvecchio once. Walking in, the lobby smelled faintly of fresh linen and that subtle lavender they seem to spritz everywhere in Italy, and check-in was a breeze; the staff – a friendly couple who actually live nearby – chatted about the best gelato spot on Via Sottoriva (spoiler: it’s the one with the pistachio that’s not too sweet).
What really hooked me was how the place blends that boutique vibe with actual comfort – it’s a 4-star spot, but it doesn’t feel stuffy, you know? My room overlooked the piazza, with these big windows letting in the soft afternoon light, and the bed was one of those memory foam setups that make you forget you’re not at home. Well, sort of – the space is cozy, which is code for a tad compact if you’re unpacking a ton of luggage, but hey, that’s European hotels for you. Mornings were my favorite: waking to the distant chime of bells from Basilica di San Zeno just a block away, and stepping out for a croissant at the bakery on Via Porta San Zeno, where the air’s thick with buttery warmth. Noise-wise, the piazza buzzes a little in the evenings with folks at the outdoor tables – think clinking glasses and laughter – but it quiets down by 10 PM, especially off-season. They even have a small rooftop terrace (not huge, but perfect for a sunset prosecco), and the Wi-Fi was surprisingly zippy for streaming those Italian cooking shows I got obsessed with. Oh, and if you’re into biking, they rent them cheap – I pedaled along the river path to Ponte Pietra, dodging joggers and feeling like a local.
Look, if you’re heading to Verona and want more than just a crash pad near the Juliet balcony crowds, Studio 27 is where it’s at. It’s got that authentic neighborhood feel – think wandering to hidden spots like the little antique market on weekends in San Zeno – without skimping on the perks that make a trip memorable. Honestly, with its 9.5 rating, it’s earned every bit; I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in fall when the leaves turn and the place feels even more magical. Just pack light and embrace the walkable vibe – you’ll thank me later.

Very spacious apartment in a quiet neighbourhood close to the old town. Magical walk along the river and enjoying all the main tourist attractions and local restaurants. We were so charmed by the city and if we come back we will definitely stay here. The apartment easily accommodated 3 adults and 3 teenagers with room to spare. The two bathrooms proved to be priceless. Litezia was a wonderful host and answered all our questions immediately. Communication was great!
