[VERONA – CASTEL SAN PIETRO] Overview

You know what caught me off guard about VERONA – CASTEL SAN PIETRO? The view. I mean, you expect something decent when you’re staying near the old castle ruins, but honestly, waking up to see Verona spread out below with the Adige River winding through it – that’s not something you forget easily. This 3-star place sits up on the hill where locals actually go to watch sunsets, which tells you something right there.

The hotel itself is refreshingly unpretentious. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, but there’s something genuinely comfortable about the whole setup. The rooms are clean and quiet – actually quiet, which is rare when you’re dealing with Italian hospitality and all the enthusiasm that comes with it. I stayed there in late spring when the city was getting busy with tourists, and you could barely hear the crowds below. The staff knows their stuff too; they’ll tell you which restaurants are worth the walk down into town versus the tourist traps near the arena. Speaking of the walk, it’s about fifteen minutes downhill to get to the main sights, which sounds easy until you realize you’re walking back up after a long day of sightseeing and maybe one too many glasses of Amarone.

What really makes this place work is that you’re staying where the castello actually matters to the neighborhood. There’s this little path that winds around the old fortifications – hardly anyone mentions it in the guidebooks – and in the evenings, you’ll see couples from town walking up there for the views. The 7.8 rating makes sense because it delivers on what it promises without trying to be fancy. The breakfast is solid Italian continental fare, nothing revolutionary but good coffee and decent pastries. Parking can be a bit tricky since you’re dealing with narrow streets that were definitely not designed for modern cars, but the hotel sorted that out for us without much fuss. Honestly, if you want to feel like you’re staying in Verona rather than just visiting it, and you don’t mind being a little removed from the immediate downtown chaos, this spot hits that sweet spot between authentic and comfortable.

Verona’s apartments offer charming accommodations with period features, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally rich Italian city.

Reviews of [VERONA – CASTEL SAN PIETRO]

  • Dee from United Kingdom – 24 August 2024 (5/10)

    Location and views and security

What could be improved: Kitchen facilities – gas didn’t stop on. Freezer full of ice. Dirty washcloths. Let the property down. Couldn’t work tv without codes we didn’t have.

  • Guido from Argentina – 23 June 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was very big and had everything you might need. The view from the window was just amazing.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Gergana from Bulgaria – 27 May 2024 (8/10)

Close to the city center. Amazing view. Clean and cozy place. Very easy self check in.

What could be improved: The parking place was too small for our car, it was only 4 m. One of the reason to rent this apartment was the free parking.

  • Marcela from Austria – 2 January 2024 (9/10)

The apartment has everything you need for a stay. Very good location, near the center. Also it is possible to cook the food, which is great. Parking is suitable for small cars ( we have Hyundai i10 and it was just enough)

What could be improved: We were accomodated at the end of the October and it was little bit cold, as the heating was off and it was cold outside. But we could survive 🙂

  • Susanna from United Kingdom – 12 June 2023 (4/10)

Dalila very friendly and helpful, she did go the extra mile to help us.

What could be improved: very average property, the head rest looked scratched by a cat.
bathroom overall old (just the sink was new)
coffee could have been better given that we are in Italy
carpark: available ONLY if you have a small car, we didn’t…

  • John from United States – 20 December 2022 (5/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Communication and parking

  • Alexios from Italy – 28 November 2022 (9/10)

The check in and collection of the keys was very convenient. I was very happy that I could even have an earlier check in and enjoy a full day without carrying around my luggage

What could be improved: Bed was nice but because of the two single mattresses at one point there was a gap in between.

  • Miloš from Serbia – 21 November 2022 (3/10)

The location is great, considering that it is really near to the most important landmarks. The apartment was ok.

What could be improved: The most irritating thing was related to the parking. The parking spot is only for the 4m long vehicles, which you find out after your payment is executed. This is quite annoying considering that we have chosen apartment because of location and the parking. Although the pay parking was nerby, we found this very misleading. The people have to know that the parking is only for the 4m long vehicle in advance. In addition the apartment is cold, there is heating, but it is not enough, therefore it is more suitable for spring/summer.

  • Kerry-lin from United Kingdom – 4 November 2022 (9/10)

Beautiful stay right in heart of verona , quiet at night a little hard to find but wonderful hosts and good facilities was able to wash clothes and cook.

  • Spyridon from Greece – 25 September 2022 (6/10)

Clean room, nice location, good communication with the hosts

What could be improved: Uncomfortable bed, mattresses and pillows, no soap or shower gel available
