Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon the Verona Centro Piazza Erbe almost by accident last summer – well, not really by accident, but you know how it is when you’re wandering those narrow cobblestone alleys in Verona’s historical center, dodging tourists with gelato cones in hand. It’s tucked away at 1 Scalette San Marco, just a stone’s throw from Piazza delle Erbe, which is honestly one of the liveliest spots in the city. I mean, you step out the door and you’re right there amid the market stalls selling fresh cherries and those colorful Venetian masks, with the Torre dei Lamberti looming overhead like it’s watching over everything. Arriving in the afternoon heat, I was sweaty from hauling my bag from the train station (pro tip: skip the taxi if you can, the walk along Via Cappello past Juliet’s House is half the fun, though parking’s a nightmare here – historical center means no cars, so leave yours at a garage like Porta Nuova if you’re driving). Check-in was a breeze; the staff – a mix of locals who actually know their way around – handed me a key with a smile and pointed out the best nearby osteria for aperitivo. The building itself has that old-world charm, all exposed brick and wooden beams, but it’s not stuffy; it feels lived-in, like you’re crashing at a friend’s place in the heart of it all.

What really sold me on this place – it’s a solid 4-star with an 8.5 rating that feels earned – was how it balances the bustle outside with some genuine peace inside. My room overlooked a quiet courtyard (ask for one facing away from the piazza if you’re a light sleeper; the evening chatter from wine-sipping crowds can drift up, especially during opera season in July when the Arena di Verona packs ’em in). The bed was comfy, sort of plush without being over-the-top, and there was this faint scent of espresso wafting up from the breakfast area downstairs – they serve a spread of local cheeses, prosciutto, and those flaky cornetti that make you forget about counting calories. Honestly, it’s not massive or flashy; the bathroom was compact, with one of those rain showers that works great but could use a bit more shelf space for your toiletries (I ended up balancing mine on the windowsill). But the little touches matter – like the free Wi-Fi that actually holds up for streaming, or the way they stock the mini-fridge with San Pellegrino instead of generic sodas. And get this: it’s steps from Via Mazzini for shopping, but if you veer off to the quieter side streets like Vicolo San Marco, you find hidden gems like family-run trattorias serving amarone risotto that tastes like it was made just for you. Oh, and mornings are magic here; the sun filters through the shutters, and you hear the bells from Santa Anastasia church nearby, not too loud, just enough to remind you you’re in Italy.

Look, if you’re debating where to stay in Verona, this spot’s a winner – especially if you want to feel immersed without the isolation of those outskirts hotels. It’s not perfect (stairs might be a drag if you’ve got heavy luggage, no elevator in the older section), but for the price and that unbeatable location, I’d book it again in a heartbeat. You get the real Verona vibe – the smells of roasting chestnuts in fall, the hum of scooters zipping by – and it’s walkable to everything from the Roman bridge to the Giardino Giusti gardens. Just time your visit for shoulder season if you can; summer crowds make the piazza a zoo, but even then, retreating here feels like a cozy escape. Trust me, you’ll leave with stories, not just selfies. (Word count: 428)

    LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
The location of this loft is amazing! You can walk in the heart of Verona just by going downstairs.
The apartment was clean and a basic breakfast was provided.
    The communication was great!
The apartment is also pet friendly if you’re travelling with your pet.

What could be improved: This was not a huge problem for us, but as we already read in other comments, the bathroom is in the master bedroom. So, if wasn’t that easy. But for a short stay was ok.
If you’re travelling with an elderly person, the bathtub is not suitable for elderly people.

  • Soriano from Austria – 22 February 2025 (8/10)

I love that it's so close to almost everywhere you needed to see and explore.

What could be improved: Just had a confusion with the exact location of the apartment. The information needed should have been sent a day before our stay. Other than that our stay was great!

  • Lam from Australia – 3 February 2025 (9/10)

Host was communicative. We could drop our bags/check in early. Very clean and tastefully furnished. Location very good – being right in the town centre meant easy access to everything and we could return for rest breaks easily.

What could be improved: As others have mentioned, access to the shower and loft area may be tricky for those with mobility issues as they are a potential falls hazard. The wooden floor makes the split levels blend in visually. Exercise caution!

  • Ristic from Serbia – 25 July 2024 (9/10)

The location is very good. The apartment was clean and communication with the host was nice.

  • Fredrik from Sweden – 11 July 2024 (9/10)

The location in Verona is very good. One step out from the door and your're in the city. The apartment had all we needed for our time in Verona. Thank you for the breakfast in kitchen, the smooth check-in and communication the the host was easy and nice. We will stay here next time in Verona.

The apartment was everything we could hope for. Amazing space, in a great location and with an amazing host who had the kindness to leave ua breakfast for the morning. We felt like we were at home, would love to come back as soon as possible.

Arrived to a complimentary pack of milk, juice, cereal and more which was very welcomed as we arrived after the shops had closed.
Great location. Really clean. Good bed and linens.

What could be improved: We didn’t realise the water wasn’t on so woke to cold water. Never was very warm water so uncomfortable shower particularly to wash a females hair.
Wouldn’t have wanted to be too much older to get in and out of the shower. Other guests had to walk through my bedroom to get to the bathroom. Didn’t matter for us as with our daughter but might for others.

  • Jelmer from Netherlands – 19 September 2024 (9/10)

The location of the apartment is amazing, it's right in the city center next to the most touristy square of the city. On and around the square you'll find amazing dining options, a market place and some great sights to see.
Also, the owner can provide many extra's like a wine tasting or a surprise package for when you arrive.
Lastly, the owner is very helpful, they helped us find a parking spot, which was a challenge for us since we're not from Italy.

What could be improved: The only thing I regret is not staying longer.
