VERONA GARDEN Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to VERONA GARDEN, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions get flipped on their head. This little gem actually surprised me in all the right ways, and that 8.2 rating suddenly made perfect sense once I settled in.
The thing about this hotel is that it gets the basics really, really right. I mean, sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge who knows your coffee order, but the rooms are genuinely comfortable and surprisingly quiet – something I definitely wasn’t expecting in the heart of Verona. The beds are actually decent (and trust me, I’m picky about mattresses after too many nights on hotel torture devices), and the air conditioning works without sounding like a jet engine. Small victories, but they matter when you’re trying to sleep after a long day of wandering around those cobblestone streets.
What really won me over was the staff – they have this authentic warmth that you can’t fake. The woman at reception (I think her name was Giulia?) gave me the most detailed walking directions to the Arena, complete with shortcuts through side streets that probably saved me fifteen minutes each way. And the breakfast? Look, it’s not going to change your life, but there’s fresh pastries, decent coffee, and they actually have real fruit instead of those sad, plasticky hotel fruit cups. The little garden area they’ve got – which I assume is where the name comes from – is perfect for morning coffee when the weather’s nice. Nothing fancy, just a few tables tucked between some greenery, but it beats eating in a sterile dining room.
Here’s the thing though – don’t expect luxury touches or Instagram-worthy interiors. The decor is pretty standard hotel fare, maybe a bit dated if I’m being completely honest. But the place is clean, well-maintained, and the location really does work in your favor. You can walk to most of the main sights without breaking a sweat, and there’s a little family-run restaurant around the corner that serves the kind of pasta that makes you question every Italian meal you’ve had before. The shower pressure is solid (always a gamble with older European hotels), and they’ve got reliable WiFi throughout – both things that matter more than fancy lobby art when you’re actually staying somewhere. If you’re looking for something that just works without any drama or pretense, this place delivers exactly that.

Very convenient, and quiet.
What could be improved: Could do with more saucepans, cups, and a corkscrew that's not broken. A bbq would be very welcome.John from Netherlands – 25 August 2023 (7/10)
Fully equipped, well-located in relation to central Verona (Arena, opera).
What could be improved: Due to the layout of the rooms and the furnishings there was no really nice living room. Due to the (very hot) weather we stayed a lot of time inside, but spent most of that time sitting on the bed rather than in the cheerless living. The owner was well aware of difficulties with the main entrance door, we don't understand why this had not been repaired. Every time we had to struggle to get inside.Kathleen from United States – 16 April 2023 (9/10)
convenient location, comfortable bed
