Verona Rooms Overview
You know, I stumbled upon Verona Rooms kind of by accident last spring – I was wandering around Verona after a day at the Arena, and honestly, I needed a place that felt more like a cozy hideaway than some flashy chain hotel. It’s tucked away on Interrato Acqua Morta, this narrow little street in the historic San Zeno district, just a stone’s throw from the Adige River. I mean, you can literally hear the water lapping if you crack a window at night, especially in those quiet hours before the city wakes up. Parking was a bit of a hassle – Verona’s old center isn’t car-friendly, so I ended up leaving mine in a lot near Ponte Pietra and walking the last five minutes, dodging scooters and the occasional street vendor selling those chestnut-scented treats. But once I got there, check-in was a breeze; the owner, this friendly guy named Marco (I think?), handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best gelato spot on Via Mazzini – you know, the kind of local tip that makes you feel like you’re in on a secret.
What really sold me on the place was how it blends that old-world Verona charm with just enough modern perks to keep things comfortable. The rooms aren’t huge – mine was on the second floor, with these exposed brick walls that smelled faintly of aged wood and fresh linen, like stepping into a renovated medieval apartment. There’s no full restaurant, but they do a solid breakfast spread in the mornings: think cappuccinos that actually taste like they’re from a neighborhood bar, plus croissants and local cheeses – oh, and those tiny jars of amarena cherry jam that I smuggled home in my bag. It’s rated pretty well at 8.3, and I get why; the Wi-Fi’s reliable for streaming (handy after a long day exploring), and the beds are comfy enough to crash on without that stiff hotel feel. That said, if you’re a light sleeper, well, the street can get a tad noisy on weekends with folks spilling out from nearby trattorias – nothing earplugs can’t fix, but it’s worth noting. I loved popping out for a walk to Juliet’s House, which is maybe 10 minutes away, or grabbing a spritz at that hidden bar on Via Sottoriva – it’s all so walkable, especially in the off-season when the crowds thin out and you can actually hear the church bells from Santa Anastasia without the tourist buzz.
All in all, if you’re heading to Verona for the romance or the opera season (book early for that, by the way – it gets packed in summer), Verona Rooms is a smart pick. It’s not perfect – the bathroom in my room was a squeeze for two people – but it’s authentic, you know? Feels like staying with a friend who knows the city inside out, rather than some sterile spot. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for that riverside vibe and the way the morning light filters through those shuttered windows. Just pack light and embrace the cobblestones; it’ll make your trip that much more memorable.

It was nice inside with a good location near the water and city center.
What could be improved: The proprietor were very nice in letting us in early. However, we were told to meet them at 4pm to check-in but they messaged us later to say they would not be there. We did not get the message until we were back at the hotel, on Wi-Fi. They asked for a picture of our documents through text or WhatsApp, which we did not have our entire trip. We let them know that but that made us take time trying to send documents. The morning we were leaving we were still communicating to get them our documents, which we sent through email. Having them not be there at the established time took time from our trip and having to get them our documents was stressful.Nicola from United Kingdom – 7 September 2024 (9/10)

Super, attentive hosts. Best thing was having water, milk, juice and cakes on arrival especially as it was 39degrees.
What could be improved: The air conditioner was very noisy so it was difficult to sleep. Such a shame as I would definitely give you a 10/10 for everything else.Jana from Czech Republic – 10 July 2022 (8/10)
What could be improved: It was difficult to find a parking place in night hours.
