Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon Vicolo Amanti Verona almost by accident last summer, right in the heart of Verona’s historical center—tucked away on this narrow little alley off Via Cappello, just a stone’s throw from Juliet’s House. I mean, if you’re wandering those cobblestone streets packed with tourists rubbing that bronze statue for luck, you could literally blink and miss the entrance. It’s on the third floor (piano 3, as they say here), so be prepared for some stairs—no elevator, which honestly added to the old-world charm but might tire you out after a day of exploring. I remember hauling my suitcase up, huffing a bit, and thinking, “Well, this is authentic Italy for you.” The building itself is one of those classic Veronese structures with faded frescoes on the walls and wrought-iron balconies overlooking the vicolo below—quiet in the mornings, but come evening, you hear the faint clink of wine glasses from nearby osterias and the occasional accordion player busking on Piazza delle Erbe, which is basically around the corner.
What really won me over, though, was how the place feels like a hidden gem amid all the bustle—it’s a 4-star spot with a stellar 9.7 rating, and yeah, it lives up to that. The rooms are spacious for a city center spot, with these high ceilings and exposed beams that make you feel like you’re in a renovated palazzo rather than some cookie-cutter hotel. Mine had a little terrace where I sipped my morning espresso, watching locals zip by on Vespas—smelling the fresh bread from the bakery down on Via Mazzini. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, all crisp linens and fluffy pillows, and the bathroom? Spotless, with those rain showers that actually have good pressure (a rarity in older buildings, let me tell you). Check-in was a breeze; the host met me at the door with a warm “Benvenuti!” and a quick rundown of the best gelato spots—try the one on Via Stella for pistachio that tastes like it was made that morning. It’s not without its quirks, though; the alley can get a tad noisy during peak tourist season in July and August, with groups chattering late into the night, but it quiets down by midnight, and earplugs sorted that for me. Parking’s a nightmare in the center—honestly, just ditch the car at one of the lots outside the ZTL zone and walk or take a bus in.
All in all, if you’re after that romantic Verona vibe without the chain-hotel sterility, this is your spot. It’s steps from the Arena for those opera nights (book tickets early in summer—it’s magical under the stars), and you can easily pop over to the Adige River for a sunset stroll. I left feeling like I’d actually lived a slice of local life, not just visited—sort of like being in on a secret that the day-trippers miss. Worth every euro, especially for couples or anyone craving that intimate, historic feel. Just pack light for those stairs, you know?

Location was brilliant, very close to the center of the old town. Lots of cafes & restaurants close by. Many churches & historic buildings were within an easy walk. The river was also close by. And the property was really quiet

The layout, decor and facilities were excellent throughout the property – everything you would need for a city break 👌
What could be improved: We struggled with the downstairs air conditioning in the incredible heat – could not get it cool enough – may have been our inability to operate the remote – instructions may have helped but only a minor issueSuzanne from United Kingdom – 27 August 2024 (9/10)
Location was great and the apartment was beautifully laid out and suited us perfectly. It was also quiet and the air con was much appreciated in the August heat . Everything was clean and comfortable and the communication was very responsive and helpful.
