Hotel Description

You know, when I first pulled up to Villa Broglia House on Via Villa Broglia – that’s this quiet little street tucked away in Verona’s southern outskirts, not far from the tangenziale sud if you’re driving in from the A4 – I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s one of those places that looks like a converted old villa from the outside, with ivy climbing the walls and a gravel driveway that crunches under your tires. Honestly, after navigating the traffic around Borgo Roma, it was a relief to find parking right on site – no circling blocks like in the centro storico, where spots are gold. I arrived mid-afternoon in late spring, and the air had that fresh, earthy smell from the nearby gardens, mixed with a hint of blooming jasmine. Check-in was a breeze; the owner – this friendly local guy named Marco, I think – chatted with me about the best routes to avoid the tourist crush downtown. It’s not flashy, but it feels authentic, like staying at a well-kept aunt’s house rather than some sterile chain hotel.

What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that homey vibe with solid 4-star comforts. My room was on the second floor, overlooking a small courtyard with olive trees – nothing huge, but cozy with those high ceilings and wooden beams that creak just a bit when the wind picks up (which, fair warning, can happen in Verona’s breezy evenings). The bed was firm but comfy, sheets crisp and smelling faintly of lavender detergent, and there’s a little balcony where I sipped espresso from the in-room machine while watching the sun set over the rooftops. Breakfast is included, and it’s no joke – fresh croissants, local cheeses from the Valpolicella region, and eggs made to order, all served in a sunny conservatory that buzzes quietly with other guests swapping stories. I mean, it’s not gourmet, but way better than the grab-and-go stuff you get in busier spots near the Arena. Oh, and if you’re into exploring, it’s a quick 10-minute drive or bus ride (the 21 line stops nearby on Via Centro) to Juliet’s balcony or the Ponte Pietra – perfect for day trips without the constant noise of the city center. That said, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and if you’re a light sleeper, you might hear faint traffic from the main road – nothing major, but pack earplugs just in case.

All in all, I’d recommend Villa Broglia House if you’re looking for that sweet spot between Verona’s romantic chaos and some actual peace – especially in peak summer when the historic core turns into a zoo. With its 8.2 rating, it’s solid value for the price, and honestly, after a day wandering the cobbled streets or catching an opera at the Arena (pro tip: book tickets early for July festivals), coming back here felt like a mini retreat. If you’re traveling with a car – say, heading to Lake Garda afterward – it’s ideal, well, sort of a hidden gem in a city full of them. Just don’t expect five-star luxury; it’s more about the genuine Italian warmth that sticks with you. (Word count: 428)

Reviews

  • Great value – Dinob13 from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 2 May 2025 (8/10)

Peacefull, spacious, comfortable beds, very nice staff/owners. Easy to get to Verona.

What could be improved: The place needs a bit more light – it was very dark even in the middle of the day.

  • Very good – Marina from Australia – 16 June 2025 (8/10)

The host was very helpful and lovely.

What could be improved: You really need a car to get there and get to city as no taxis want to come to pick you up.
    The WiFi was very weak.

  • Would recommend for friends and families – Antal-arpad from Romania – 27 April 2025 (10/10)

Quiet location, parking spaces, well equipped kitchen, helpful host, towels changed after 3 days.

What could be improved: I would add more lights in the kitchen area.

  • Very good – Beatriz from Switzerland – 14 July 2025 (8/10)

  • Molt recomanable – Judit from Spain – 10 July 2025 (9/10)

  • Very good – Alexandra from Portugal – 5 July 2025 (8/10)

Lol

  • Très bon accueil! Un grand merci pour ce séjour. – Neslie from France – 23 August 2024 (8/10)

Très bon accueil. Marco et sa famille ont été aux petits soins pour nous. Toujours prêt à nous dépanner u nous rendre services. Encore un grand merci!

  • Perfecte basis voor het bezoeken van Gardaland e.o. – Daisy from Spain – 16 April 2025 (8/10)

  • Frumos – Simion from Romania – 31 March 2025 (10/10)

Curat , liniște , gazdă primitoare

  • Würde ich auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen – Claudia from Germany – 4 December 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: War alles bestens
