Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to the Vittoria Verona on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets are just starting to buzz with tourists but the locals are still bundled up against the Adige River chill. It’s tucked away on Via Goffredo Mameli in Borgo Trento, which is honestly one of those underrated neighborhoods – not smack in the historic center like around Piazza delle Erbe, but close enough that you can stroll over to the Arena in about 15 minutes without breaking a sweat. I mean, if you’re coming from the train station, it’s a quick bus ride on the 11 or 12 line, or even a cheap taxi if you’ve got luggage. Parking’s a bit of a hassle here, though – street spots are scarce, especially in the evenings when folks from the nearby hospital shift changes clog things up, so I’d recommend asking the front desk about their garage spots ahead of time. Anyway, check-in was a breeze; the staff – mostly these friendly Veronese folks with that thick local accent – handed over my key with a quick chat about the best nearby gelato spot (it’s Gelateria Ponte Pietra, by the way, just across the river).

What really stuck with me about the place is how it feels like a solid, no-frills home base in a city that can get overwhelming. The rooms are compact – well, sort of snug if you’re used to bigger spots, but clean and comfy with those old-school wooden floors that creak a little underfoot, adding to the charm. I had one facing the street, and yeah, there was some morning traffic hum from Via Mameli, but nothing that earplugs couldn’t fix; it’s quieter than staying right downtown where the bars spill out till late. Breakfast downstairs is a highlight – think fresh cornetti that smell like butter heaven, strong espresso, and those little yogurts with local fruit compote – served in this cozy room that overlooks a tiny courtyard. Honestly, it’s not fancy, but it sets you up nicely for a day wandering to Juliet’s House or catching an opera at the Arena. Oh, and if you’re into biking, they rent them cheap – perfect for zipping along the river paths in Borgo Trento, which feels more like real Verona life, with moms pushing strollers and old guys playing cards in the parks.

All in all, if you’re not chasing five-star glamour, the Vittoria’s a smart pick for Verona – especially in shoulder season when rates dip and the crowds thin out. It’s got that authentic vibe, you know, where you feel like you’re actually living in the city rather than just visiting. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the back rooms (pro tip: ask for one up front), and the decor’s a tad dated, but for a 3-star with a 7.6 rating, it punches above its weight. I’d go back in a heartbeat for a quick romantic getaway or even a solo trip – just pack light and embrace the neighborhood’s easy pace.

Reviews

  • Very good – Andrii from Ukraine – 6 January 2025 (8/10)

    Perfect location.
    Perfect staff.

What could be improved: One key is not convenient for a big property.
It was not mentioned in condition , property has only one parking place!! That was very unpleasant surprise.

  • Very good – Simon from Germany – 27 August 2024 (8/10)

Very close to the center and with excellent parking. The house is very large, with two bathrooms and very spacious and comfortable rooms. The shower is excellent! We slept very well, without noise, without problems. Everything worked fine.

  • Very good – Washington from Switzerland – 8 February 2024 (8/10)

Big enough, comfortable, overall very good

What could be improved: The parking fits only small car.

  • A relaxing stay, in a lovely city – Mark from United Kingdom – 21 October 2024 (8/10)

The location was excellent, just a 10 minute walk in to the city.
The outside patio area was good to relax on at breakfast and in the evening.

What could be improved: The kitchen was lacking basic cooking utensils.
There were no wine glasses and the number of plates were limited.
It wasn't easy to dine in due to the lack of equipment.

  • Internally modern style small house. Great for up to three couples, ok, for 4. – Andrew from United Kingdom – 28 September 2024 (7/10)

Advertised as a "luxury let", maybe that's a bit OTT, but, 3 comfortable double rooms, two upstairs with air-con (the third is in the lower ground, perhaps a little cooler anyway maybe benefitting from the sinking cool air from the other ACs and it has fans). The ground floor sitting area has a double sofa bed and AC too. Kitchen also in ground floor, there is some outside sitting space too. Decoration is modern and unfussy, it is clean and bright. Set back from road in a courtyard so quiet. Walking distance into Verona.

What could be improved: Kitchen equipment generally fine, however, almost nothing was there, no dish washing kit (although there was a dishwasher and some tabs), no salt, pepper, oil or anything else, I think it had a nespresso machine (or similar) and a few pods. Most shockingly no wine glasses only tumblers. Parking only for one car and a very tight squeeze getting it in, if you want to use this as a touring base getting in and out each day will be a chore. There is street parking around.

  • A comfortable apartment close to the attractions of Verona – Jarosław from Poland – 21 August 2024 (8/10)

Great location of the appartament, within walking distance to Verona's main attractions and still in a closed courtyard (safe parking, quiet).
Available amenities such as a mini-garden with seating area, TV, fully equipped kitchen with cooker, capsule coffee maker and even dishwasher, air conditioning in the bedrooms and a fan in the living room, two bathrooms, washing machine available.

What could be improved: The house already requires refreshing.
The building itself is quite unusual, it looks like a sectional extension to another house, in an inner courtyard (there is no view of the main street, as it may seem from the photos, only of the inner
The lower level with double bedroom and bathroom is below ground level, making it quite damp.
Access to the private parking space is quite difficult (drive through a b. tight gate, tiny parking area with no possibility to manoeuvre). In addition, on arrival it turned out that the remote control for the gate did not work, so that we had to park the car outside (in a paid zone), and the problem was efficiently solved the next day.

  • Good – Almė from Lithuania – 28 July 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: We were two families of seven people. Everything was fine except for the bedroom in the basement. In that room the walls were covered with mold and the smell of mold was quite strong and we felt it all the night. It was very unpleasant to sleep because of the smell of mold and knowing that mold is harmful to health. Would come back only if no need to use that bedroom, I mean if there are 4-5 people as other 2 bedrooms are nice.

  • Okay. – Sally from United Kingdom – 15 September 2023 (7/10)

We booked the apartment as it offered what we needed for our family. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and outside seating area. It does have as described but with some caveats! It would have been nice for a small pack that contained some welcome details, such as buses and restaurant recommendations but sadly nothing. If the small details were attended to – the lights work, the kitchen was better equipped, an ironing board was available as well as an iron, then this would have been a lovely place to stay. It’s the little things that make the difference.

What could be improved: The bedrooms; the one at the top of the first floor on the right – had only one small light working. The cellar bedroom had two bedside table lights – but one was for show only as there was nowhere to plug it in! Attempts has been made to counter the ‘cellar smell’ which were successful. We had no issue with that as previously mentioned by others. There was an iron in an upstairs bedroom but no ironing board! The kitchen is badly equipped. Don’t expect to be able to cook a meal easily as there are minimal things on hand to cook with. It really is lacking! There’s a box that once had a kettle in it but there is now no kettle. I asked for one and a tea towel as there was nothing to dry plates with once you’d washed them. I requested both and was told they’d be delivered the next day but nothing ever did get delivered. Plates are chipped! The one ceramic serving dish has previously been damaged / repaired and then the repair has broken and rather than replace the dish it’s been left! When you do sit down to eat – you can’t all easily sit around the table as the table + people are wider than the space allows. There is one small wooden chopping board the size of a hand – that’s to chop everything – meat, bread, vegetables – very unhygienic! Cooking pots are damaged and misshapen – just poor.

  • Close to the old town – Stefan from Denmark – 7 September 2023 (8/10)

Big house. Close to the old town (walking distance). Fantastic private parking.

  • Good – Tian from Malaysia – 6 September 2023 (7/10)

Very nicely decorated apartment with a lovely living room for a group of friends or family to chill while watching the television. The kitchen was well equipped but there wasnt a kettle for use. The rooms were really spacious and comfortable. There were also AC in the rooms upstairs. Having the washing machine available for use is really useful for long trips. Rather central location, 15 mins walk to the old town of Verona.

What could be improved: The flush of our toilet on the second floor didnt work properly. We travelled by car and we found it extremly stressful and difficult trying to park the car from the extremly busy street into the garage through the narrow entrance. It might be due to that our car was not that small but it was not a pleasant experience nonetheless.
