Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to We Home – Vista Arena, incredibile on a balmy evening last summer – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets buzz with opera fans flocking to the Arena for those open-air shows. It’s tucked right on Via Anfiteatro, literally a stone’s throw from the ancient amphitheater – I mean, you can see its massive arches from some of the windows, which is pretty surreal if you’re into history without the hassle of a long walk. I arrived after a quick train from Milan, dodging the usual throng on Piazza Bra, and honestly, finding parking was a bit of a nightmare; the historical center’s all pedestrian zones and narrow alleys, so if you’re driving, stash your car at one of those lots near Porta Nuova and hoof it the last 15 minutes. Check-in was smooth, though – the staff (mostly locals who chat about the best gelato spots on Via Mazzini) handed over the key with a smile and a tip about avoiding the tourist traps for dinner.

Stepping into my room, it felt like a cozy escape from the cobblestone chaos outside – think modern vibes with those high ceilings and big windows that let in the golden afternoon light, plus a balcony overlooking the bustle below. The bed was plush, the kind that makes you sink in after a day wandering to Juliet’s balcony (which is just a 10-minute stroll away, by the way – skip the crowds early morning). There’s air conditioning that actually works quietly, a godsend in July’s heat, and the bathroom had these nice rainfall showers with that faint citrus scent from the toiletries. Breakfast downstairs is solid – fresh croissants, cappuccinos strong enough to wake the dead, and some local cheeses – but nothing extravagant; I grabbed mine on the terrace, listening to the distant chime of bells from Santa Anastasia church. Noise-wise, it’s lively till late with folks spilling out from nearby osterias on Via Sottoriva, so light sleepers might want earplugs, especially during festival season. Oh, and the Wi-Fi’s reliable for streaming those Verona vlogs – I caught up on some while sipping a spritz from the mini-bar.

All in all, if you’re chasing that authentic Verona vibe without breaking the bank, this place nails it – it’s got an 8.3 rating for a reason, blending 4-star comfort with a location that puts you smack in the heart of things. I wouldn’t call it luxurious (the rooms are compact, sort of like most Italian city spots), but for couples on a romantic weekend or solo travelers hitting the opera, it’s spot-on. Well, maybe skip it if you’re after total silence – but honestly, who comes to Verona for that? You’d be missing the magic of waking up to the scent of fresh bread from the bakery around the corner on Via Cappello. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the crowds thin out and you can really soak it in.

Location was fantastic, walking distance to great local restaurants, sights and markets (including Christmas markets). Public car park for our car was within easy walking distance and reasonably priced. Beds were super comfortable and rooms totally blacked out and quiet, so was able to sleep in. Property had all the facilities we needed including a well equipped kitchen and washing machine. This property had security and a lift so makes it easy to get to second floor with luggage or if you don’t feel like climbing any more stairs at the end of a day of sightseeing. Would definitely stay again.

What could be improved: Check in was a little confusing at first but once we figured it out, was easy to get in and out of property. Price was substantially more than we paid in other locations but as it was only a couple of nights the extra cost was worth paying for to have a stunning historical location and three bedrooms with comfortable beds for everyone in our group.

Amazing location. Right in heart of the city. Easy to walk where we wanted. Really is just by the arena.

What could be improved: We had a problem initially gaining entrance to property. You need to download quite a bit before arrival as we struggled with internet. In evening doors before property were locked. This took us over an hour to contact people and gain entry and a lot of stress. Instructions mentioned a key box which no longer seemed to exist.

If you are looking to enjoy your opera night at the Verona Arena and combine it with an on site apartment and restaurants with high cuisine- then you found the right place! We had an unbelievable, unforgetable, beautiful stay! Convenient parking available.

What could be improved: Just solve the opening of the security gate when enter the building over night hours.

  • Justin from Australia – 13 July 2024 (9/10)

    Great location, spacious living areas.

What could be improved: It’s basically an airbnb arrangement. It wasn’t an issue in the end but thought we’d be able to leave luggage before checking in as you would with a hotel.

There’s a luggage storage place close by though, so it wasn’t a major issue.

  • Linda from United Kingdom – 26 April 2024 (9/10)

Location was very central and very quiet at night. 2 mins walk to everything.

What could be improved: Entry system was a little tricky and on our last night we spent an hour trying to lock the door. Host was helpful and talked us through it over the phone, but we lost an hour as we were heading out to dinner, so not ideal.

  • Inna from Switzerland – 22 October 2024 (5/10)

The absolutely wow balcony facing the Arena. The apartment itself is gorgeous and spacious with two bathrooms, very well equipped kitchen and everything you need for vacation. Elevator directly to 2nd floor where the apartment is located (in our case it was super important as my mum has problems with walking).

What could be improved: It’s such a shame that everything was spoiled with bulging entrance problem. Despite all previous complaints from other guests the owner/running company didn’t fix it. Be prepared to be home by 21ish or be stuck outside/inside waiting for not quick solution. First night we couldn’t open the gates door for 30-40 mins after 23ish till some security guy arrived. We been promised that they would send technicians to fix it tomorrow. Next day we took keys with us but it didn’t help either. We couldn’t leave the building and had to cancel all plans for this evening. It’s absolutely ridiculous as looks like this problem has been existing for pretty long time. The video sent how to get emergency keys is useless as it doesn’t exist. But we got keys after first night but they don’t work. No idea how it’s possible.
It was pretty poor communication with a person on WhatsApp. So we don’t recommend this apartment until this issue is solved ( please check it beforehand). Also, there was no hot water on the second day.

  • David from United Kingdom – 4 September 2024 (9/10)

Very well situated right beside the Arena. (Photo 2 is from the balcony.) Once inside it was a peaceful haven. Everything you need is a short walk away; a cafe, a bar, a grocery and pharmacy … and lots of options of restaurants within easy walking distance.

What could be improved: The access was challenging – using a phone based entry lock system. The key box was not as described. The empty commercial units were in stark contrast to the rest of the area.

  • Maria from Philippines – 15 February 2024 (9/10)

Very near the arena, very big with 3 bedrooms. Comfortable and clean.

What could be improved: One of the bathrooms does not have a shower, only bath tub. So all 4 of us ended using the bathroom with shower. Suggest to put a shower in the toilet and bath with bathtub.

  • Eugene from Hong Kong – 25 September 2023 (9/10)

    Great location

  • Nina from United States – 16 August 2023 (9/10)

This was the perfect place to stay for attending the opera. We were steps away from our dinner restaurant and from the entrance gate. When our kids were too tired to stay for the last act, we came back to the place and were able to hear the opera from the balcony. An unforgettable experience! The apartment was clean and spacious for our group of four adults and two kids.
