Zia Anna Overview
You know what really surprised me about Zia Anna? For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight class. I mean, when I first booked it, I was honestly just looking for something clean and decent without breaking the bank – but this little gem actually made me rethink what you can expect from a mid-range hotel.
The moment you walk in, there’s this warmth that feels genuinely Italian rather than put-on touristy. The lobby isn’t fancy or anything, but it’s got character – you can tell someone actually cares about the details here. The staff remembers your name after day one, which sounds small but honestly makes such a difference when you’re dealing with jet lag or trying to figure out where to grab decent coffee at 7 AM. Speaking of coffee, theirs is surprisingly good – none of that watery hotel nonsense. I actually started looking forward to mornings there, which rarely happens when I’m traveling.
What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail the basics so well. The rooms are spotless (and I’m pretty picky about cleanliness), the beds are actually comfortable – not just “hotel comfortable” but like, you sleep through the night comfortable. The bathrooms have proper water pressure, which you’d think would be standard everywhere but honestly isn’t. And here’s something I really appreciated – the walls are thick enough that you’re not listening to your neighbor’s entire phone conversation. I’ve stayed at places twice the price where that wasn’t the case. The Wi-Fi works consistently too, which matters if you’re trying to stay connected or upload photos without wanting to throw your phone across the room.
It’s the kind of place where you can tell the owners actually give a damn about their guests’ experience. Like, they’ll remember you mentioned wanting to find a good local restaurant and slip you a handwritten note with directions to some family-run place that’s not in any guidebook. The whole operation feels personal in a way that’s become pretty rare. And with a 9.2 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who feels this way – that score doesn’t happen by accident, especially for a 3-star property where expectations are usually pretty modest.
Look, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools or whatever, but if you want a place that feels like home while you’re exploring somewhere new, Zia Anna delivers. It’s one of those discoveries that makes you feel slightly protective – you almost don’t want to tell too many people about it because you want it to stay exactly as genuine as it is now.
To book a hotel in Verona during major cultural festivals, travelers need early planning as this romantic city draws visitors eager to experience its Shakespearean heritage and medieval charm.
