Hotel Description
I stumbled upon the 15th Century Loft during a quick getaway to Verona last spring, right when the cherry blossoms were starting to pop along the Adige River – you know, that time of year when the city feels a bit magical but not yet overrun with summer tourists flocking to the Arena for opera season. It’s tucked away at 4 Largo San Nazaro, in this quiet little square that’s honestly more locals than visitors, just a stone’s throw from the university district. I mean, if you’re coming from the train station at Porta Nuova, it’s an easy 20-minute walk across the Ponte Navi bridge, dodging those speedy Vespas on Via San Nazaro – but watch out, parking’s a nightmare here if you’re driving; I ended up leaving my rental in a paid lot near Porta Vescovo and hoofing it the rest of the way. The building itself is this gorgeous old stone structure from, well, the 15th century obviously, with these weathered wooden shutters that creak a little in the breeze. Checking in was a breeze – no front desk hassle, just a key code they emailed me, which felt sort of modern and low-key, perfect after a long day of travel.
Stepping inside, though – that’s when it really hits you. The loft has these exposed brick walls and massive oak beams overhead that make you feel like you’ve time-traveled, but without any of that musty, forgotten vibe some historic spots have (honestly, it smelled faintly of fresh linen and maybe a hint of espresso from the kitchenette). My room was on the upper level – steep stairs, mind you, no elevator, so pack light if you’re not up for a mini workout – with these huge windows overlooking the square, where you can hear the distant chime of bells from San Nazaro church in the mornings. It’s got all the creature comforts blended in seamlessly: a comfy king bed with those crisp Italian sheets, a rainfall shower that actually has decent pressure (rare in old buildings, right?), and a little balcony where I sipped my morning coffee watching neighborhood kids play soccer below. The place is spotless, and the Wi-Fi’s surprisingly zippy for streaming – I caught up on some work emails without a hitch. Oh, and if you’re into food, there’s this tiny trattoria just around the corner on Via XX Settembre that does the best amatriciana pasta; I wandered over for dinner and it was packed with locals, not a tourist menu in sight. Noise-wise, it’s pretty peaceful at night, though you might hear the occasional scooter zipping by early if you’re a light sleeper – nothing a pair of earplugs can’t fix.
Look, if you’re the type who wants Verona’s romance without the chaos of staying right under Juliet’s balcony (which, let’s be real, gets mobbed), this loft is a gem. It’s got that authentic charm that makes you feel like you’re living in the city, not just visiting – plus, with a 9.2 rating, it’s clear others agree. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the streets are quieter and you can snag a table at those hidden osterias without a wait. Just remember to book ahead for July or August; the whole area buzzes with festival energy then. All in all, it’s the kind of spot that lingers with you, you know?

Great interiors, 2 floors apartment,
Beautiful kitchen.
What could be improved: There is no parking near it was not easy to unload the all baggage , as a street is busy , host share with us closest parking.
But if you have only few small baggage it’s not an issue.Enrico from Italy – 9 August 2023 (9/10)

We loved the historic features: the wooden beams and the bedroom are just amazing. The apartment is so quiet because of the big walls! The furniture and appliances are super modern, the kitchen is fully equipped. And the house is really big! Before booking I Was concerned with humidity downstairs, but it hasn t been a problem at all: the room is not that humid by itself, and there is a dehumidifier in case

The apartment was so beautiful, historic, and wonderfully decorated. Great location. Lovely hosts.
What could be improved: The air conditioning could have been better.Mihail from Greece – 16 August 2024 (8/10)
A cosy and elegant loft.
What could be improved: The main bedroom is on the basement. A dehumidifier should be on 24h.Wiktor from Poland – 12 February 2025 (7/10)
Our stay at Enrico's apartment didn't start off great. The place looked beautiful and was clean, but we quickly noticed that the bedroom in the basement was a bit damp and chilly, and the heaters weren't working well. The next day, we also had bad luck when the water heater broke, so there was no hot water in the taps or the shower. Luckily, Enrico was super easy to communicate with, and he even came by late at night to help us out with the issues. He sorted everything out and got the apartment warmed up with the air conditioning. On our departure day, he also let us check out later and helped us carry our bags to the train station by his car, which was really nice of him. Overall, we recommend this place because issues can happen anywhere, and Enrico really did his best to help us out.
What could be improved: I didnt expect that the second bedroom will be in the basement, there is no sunlight there, and there is no view from the window. It was a bit cold, but the owner helped us to warm up the place. I Think all would be bearable if the price will be much lower.Sandra from Croatia – 16 September 2023 (7/10)
Spatious, beutifully decorated apartment 10 minutes from the city center.
What could be improved: Big problem with the smell of the humidity in the room with two beds in the basement.
