3 Amici al Castello Overview

You know what caught me off guard about 3 Amici al Castello? The name literally translates to “3 Friends at the Castle,” and honestly, that’s exactly how it feels when you walk in – like you’re visiting friends who happen to live in this incredible historic building. I mean, the whole place has this intimate vibe that’s rare for a 4-star property, especially one pulling a 9.3 rating (which, let’s be honest, is pretty impressive when guests are this picky about their Italian getaways).

The building itself tells this amazing story – you can feel the history in the thick stone walls and those gorgeous arched doorways that make you want to take photos of literally everything. What really got me though was how they’ve managed to blend the old-world charm with modern comfort without making it feel forced or theme-park-y. The rooms have this perfect balance where you get the character of exposed beams and original stonework, but then your shower actually has proper water pressure and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve stayed in historic buildings. The staff – and I swear they really do treat you like those three friends the name promises – seem to genuinely know their stuff about the area, not just the rehearsed tourist spots but the kind of local recommendations that actually pan out.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: it’s positioned so you can actually walk to the castle (obviously), but more importantly, you’re right in the heart of things without being on some crazy busy street where you can’t sleep. I stayed during what felt like peak season, and yeah, it gets lively during the day, but by evening it settles into this perfect Italian small-town rhythm. The check-in was refreshingly smooth – none of that awkward waiting around while they figure out their system – and parking wasn’t the nightmare I’d psyched myself up for. Actually, they sorted that whole situation out pretty efficiently. What struck me most was how the place manages to feel both elegant and comfortable at the same time. You know how some hotels make you feel like you need to be on your best behavior? This isn’t one of those. You can come back from a day of exploring looking slightly disheveled, and nobody’s giving you side-eye at the front desk. The whole experience just flows naturally, from the moment you arrive until you’re reluctantly checking out, already planning when you can come back.

Apartments in Verona provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Italian markets and experience daily life in historic Renaissance neighborhoods.

Reviews of 3 Amici al Castello

  • Halit from Turkey – 7 April 2025 (8/10)

Good location. The complimentary refreshments were rich (coffee, tea, beer, cola, biscuits, water…) . Room and bathroom is very large. Our host Dario is very helpful. He replied all questions about accomodation, city, parking etc.. Paid parking can be found on side streets. You should park blue lines and get ticket from the machine near the street. Otherwise you can ask Dario to reserve private parking which is a bit expensive: 24€ .

What could be improved: Breakfast can be better. For example, I prefer cheese in the breakfast, but I couldn't. Be careful because the shower cabin leaks a lot of water, it can cause flooding in the bathroom. But I'm sure Dario will fix it.

  • Timucin from Germany – 6 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was very good. The host Dario is very friendly and helps with everything. Thank you.

  • Rumen from United Kingdom – 24 March 2025 (10/10)

Excellent hotel! The room was spacious and comfortable with an incredible view of the Cestelvecchio and river. Dario the proprietor was extremely helpful in every way: serving breaskfast, recommending activities and restaurants and even helped us by ordering us a taxi on the last day. Would absolutely visit again, simply perfect!

  • Joanna from Poland – 14 October 2024 (9/10)

Dario is such a wonderful host! He is very helpful and caring with all matters. It was great to meet you Dario!

  • Colin from United Kingdom – 16 September 2024 (9/10)

Brilliant location, just across a charming pedestrian bridge from the city centre. Very helpful owner, Dario, who was lovely in every way.

What could be improved: A proper teapot would have been nice. But the breakfasts otherwise were great.

  • Lorenzo from Canada – 5 September 2024 (10/10)

Everything within walking distance and not too busy .Dario was an amazing host. Making sure we had everything we needed, he gave us a history lesson on Verona, he even let us keep our car on premise after checkout , until we left . He even let us use facilities to freshen up before our journey out. We will definitely stay again. Thank you Dario for the great experience.

  • Ilia from Switzerland – 31 August 2024 (10/10)

All was really good. Large and comfortable room with a/c, excellent location…just across the historic bridge from the busy historic city center, but very quiet…facing the river and a green park…
A bit unconventional being located on single floor of a residential building, but very comfortable. Dario makes up for unconventionality. Very supportive and helpful, makes one feel at home…and at a very nice home.

  • Pedro from Brazil – 24 October 2023 (10/10)

The view from the apartment is fantastic, in front of one of the most beautiful spots in the city. You can walk to all the main attractions, or even get a scooter, as there is a rental point in front of the apartment. There is a garage for your car, for a fee, pretty convenient, and the host's service is very kind and professional, and you should try the bread that Dario produces himself, tasty and fresh!

What could be improved: I didn't miss anything.
