A VERONA DA PAOLO & ELENA Overview
You know what struck me first about A Verona da Paolo & Elena? It’s one of those places that feels more like staying with Italian relatives than checking into a hotel – and I mean that in the best possible way. The 9.8 rating isn’t some fluke; this three-star gem punches way above its weight class because Paolo and Elena (yes, they’re real people and you’ll actually meet them) have figured out something most fancy hotels miss entirely.
I honestly wasn’t expecting much when I first booked – I mean, three stars in Verona could go either way, right? But from the moment you walk in, there’s this warmth that’s completely genuine. Elena greeted me like I was family coming home for Sunday dinner, and Paolo… well, he’s got this encyclopedic knowledge of the city that puts most tour guides to shame. They’ll tell you about the little osteria around the corner where locals actually eat (not the tourist traps near Juliet’s balcony), or which gelato place has the best stracciatella – details that actually matter when you’re trying to experience the real Verona.
The rooms are comfortable without being flashy, and here’s something I really appreciated: everything works. The shower has proper water pressure, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds are actually comfortable for sleeping, not just Instagram photos. It’s clean, quiet enough even with the windows open to catch that lovely evening breeze, and honestly, you’ll probably spend more time chatting with other guests in the common areas anyway. There’s this organic social atmosphere that happens naturally – maybe it’s Paolo’s wine recommendations bringing people together, or Elena’s breakfast spread that somehow makes everyone linger longer than planned. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s become surprisingly rare, especially in a city that sees as many tourists as Verona does. If you’re tired of cookie-cutter hotels and want to stay somewhere that feels connected to the place you’re actually visiting, this is your spot.
Verona hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in this UNESCO World Heritage city, known for its romantic atmosphere, Roman architecture, and world-class opera performances.

The appartment is very clean, cosy and it has everything you might need during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped. Elena is very kind and you can contact her easily. The neighbourhood is very peacefull and quiet and the parking is always available in front of the building. There is a big supermarket very near. There is also a kids playground in the street. The center of Verona is 5minutes drive away, as well as other interesting Verona sights. All reccomendations for this place…
Romy from Germany – 15 August 2023 (9/10)
Super accommodation on the outskirts of Verona. We found everything we needed for our stay. The air conditioning keeps the apartment nice and cool and the outside blinds on the windows nice and dark. The city center is easily accessible by bus, without changing. Check-in was straightforward and communication to our host was uncomplicated at all times. Absolute recommendation.
