Agriturismo Ai Dossi Overview

You know what really surprised me about Agriturismo Ai Dossi? It’s one of those places where the 9.2 rating actually undersells the experience – and I’m usually pretty skeptical of those high scores. This isn’t your typical agriturismo where they’ve just slapped some farmhouse furniture in a renovated barn and called it authentic. The family running this place has been working the land for generations, and honestly, you can feel that history the moment you pull up the gravel drive.

The rooms are beautifully done without being fussy about it – thick stone walls that keep everything cool even in summer, and these gorgeous exposed beams that aren’t just for show. I mean, you’re literally sleeping in a working farm building that’s been thoughtfully converted. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night… well, except for the occasional sheep conversation, but that’s part of the charm, right? The bathroom in my room was surprisingly modern (thank goodness), though the water pressure took a minute to get going in the mornings. The breakfast situation is where this place really shines – they make everything from ingredients produced right there on the property. I’m talking about cheese that was probably made the day before, bread that’s still warm, and this incredible honey that the owner’s son harvests from their own hives. You’ll end up eating way more than you planned, trust me.

What really sets this place apart is how the family treats you – not like a hotel guest, but more like a friend of a friend who’s staying for a few days. The patriarch of the family, this weathered guy who speaks about three words of English but somehow communicates perfectly anyway, actually took me out to see the vineyard one evening and explained their winemaking process through elaborate hand gestures and broken Italian-English that was somehow more informative than most official tours I’ve taken. The location gives you that proper countryside immersion without being completely cut off from civilization – you can drive to nearby towns for dinner if you want a change of pace, but honestly, why would you when they’re serving up farm-to-table meals that put most restaurants to shame? The only thing I’d warn you about is that if you’re not comfortable with rural life – meaning occasional farm smells, roosters at dawn, and gravel roads – this might not be your scene. But if you want to experience authentic Italian agricultural life without sacrificing comfort, Agriturismo Ai Dossi delivers in a way that feels genuine rather than performed. Just don’t expect lightning-fast WiFi or 24-hour room service – that’s sort of missing the point entirely.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Verona at least two months ahead for major events like opera performances and wine festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular romantic sites.

    Breakfeast was perfect!

This accommodation is simply amazing – from the warm and heartfelt encounters with the hosts, to the delicious organic food that was served at the lucious breakfast, to the bright and welcoming rooms with impeccably cleanliness and a stunning view. We were so happy to stay here and found complete relaxation. The location of the Agriturismo is quiet and on top of a hill, where you can see far and wide. The rooms are so tastefully furnished and decorated, an artisanal carpenter’s work. The paintings of the birds and plants hung on the walls are so lovely. The owners grow their own produce and you can take a walk between the vineyards and olive trees and visit their animals. We highly recommend staying there, everything is made with love and elevated taste and you can feel it!
Plus: if you’re vegetarian or vegan, you will get just as much of a choice at breakfast because it’s tailored to every guest’s individual wishes 🙂

Great location and views overlooking the Veneto plain. Friendly staff and quiet surroundings. Very nice rooms and pool (for warmer months).

  • Susan from Australia – 13 October 2024 (9/10)

Friendly, extremely helpful staff, clean comfortable room with big king single bed, gorgeous hill top view of vineyards, yummy breakfast with homemade jams ( fig/ apricot one morning) and asks with seasonal fruit themes, yoga mats available for a sunrise pool side workout before breakfast!

What could be improved: Need a car, but that was a plus for me, getting away from main town craziness

  • Roy from United States – 4 October 2024 (10/10)

It was peaceful and in a beautiful location!
The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable! Everything about the hotel was quality!

What could be improved: Not a thing!

A successful experiences on this trip with a location we discovered entirely by chance in Verona, or more precisely in Dossi, a small village located about 15 km away (approximately 25-30 minutes by car). I say by chance because we ended up here while trying to avoid the noise and hustle of the famous city, as well as the high accommodation and parking prices. That’s how we found this wonderful guesthouse, which I’ll describe in the following article: Agriturismo Ai Dossi – from agricultural production to agritourism.
From the moment you step through the gate, everything is authentically Italian. The reception, the warm welcome, the tour of the location, and, of course, the accommodation (the rooms). We were greeted by Lorenzo, who we later discovered to be a renowned chef with extensive experience in Verona’s restaurants. We also selected our breakfast menu at that time: since there were three of us, we chose two „solti” menus and one „dolce” – to make the culinary experience complete.
What turned a simple stay into an experience, however, was the dinner offered by the hosts. And what could be more authentic in Italy than pizza and wine?! Well, there were six types of gourmet pizza proposed and prepared by Masterchef Lorenzo, using ingredients from their own production or local farms, and for each one, Margherita served (and of course described, as a young sommelier should) six types of wines – some from local wineries, others produced on their own property.

What could be improved: everything perfect

The family host kindness, quality of the breakfast, view from the panoramic room, amazing location and facility.

When we travel we like to be in the local area to really get a feel for the surroundings and daily living. This location met our needs as we traveled to Verona, Lake Garda and stopped at vineyards along the way. The Hotel was situated on the top of a vineyard with wonderful views. The breakfast served each morning was very good using their own produce. Staff was very accomodating and helpful in assisting us. We would definitely stay again!

    Beautiful location and clean facilities.
Lorenzo & Margherita are very kind as well as professional. They gave us good tips for visiting the region and their expertise is shown in the amazing dinner they offer. A+
