Here’s what most guidebooks won’t tell you about staying in Borgo Milano — you’re actually in one of Verona’s most livable areas. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your front door onto Juliet’s balcony, but you’ve got authentic trattorias within walking distance and the Stadio Bentegodi is practically next door if you’re into football. The area feels genuinely Italian, you know? I mean, I watched locals doing their evening passeggiata right outside the hotel, and there’s something really special about experiencing that daily rhythm of the city.

Sleep Quality That Actually Matters

Let me be honest — I’m usually skeptical when hotels brag about their beds, but Alexandra’s House actually delivers on this front. The room I stayed in had one of those mattresses that somehow manages to be both supportive and soft, which is harder to find than you’d think. After walking around Verona all day (and trust me, those cobblestones are unforgiving), sinking into that bed was genuinely restorative. The rooms themselves are clean and functional without being fancy — think comfortable rather than Instagram-worthy, which worked perfectly for me.

You know what’s actually a big deal? Free parking in Italy. Seriously, this alone probably saves you 20-30 euros a day compared to city center hotels, and you don’t have to navigate those narrow medieval streets with your rental car. The staff was helpful without being overly formal — they gave me solid recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t just the obvious tourist places. There’s also a small restaurant on-site, though I’ll be honest, I mostly used it for quick breakfasts since the neighborhood has so many good local options.

You’re still only about 15 minutes from the Arena and all the main sights, but you can actually relax when you come back in the evening. It’s not going to wow you with amenities or blow your mind with design, but sometimes what you really want is a clean, comfortable base that lets you focus on exploring the city rather than your hotel room.

  Convenient to the train station – about a 10 minute walk. Complimentary room items were wonderful and thoughtfully provided by host. Refrigerator was very helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Driveway access a bit steep with loose stone. 1st floor room still required walking up two flights of stairs. Step into bathroom – watch toe stubs. For elderly, this is a consideration. Not many choices for restaurants in nearby area.

  Our host was very helpful and responsive with questions I had. Super easy check in. Nice sized bedroom, very clean with some snack/breakfast items. The location is very close to the bus stop which is an easy 10 min bus into town. We found free street parking for our car across the road
