I almost walked right past Appartamento Casa Verona the first time I was looking for it – it’s tucked into one of those charming residential streets where locals actually live, not the touristy strip where most hotels cluster. Honestly, that turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. The morning sounds aren’t honking tour buses but rather the gentle clatter of espresso cups from the neighborhood bar downstairs and maybe some Italian grandmother calling to her grandkids in the courtyard.

The apartment itself has that lived-in authenticity you don’t get in chain hotels – I mean, the furniture looks like it belongs to someone’s actual nonna, complete with those heavy wooden pieces that have probably been there since the 70s. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped (I actually cooked a few meals there using ingredients from the local market), though you’ll want to bring your own sharp knife if you’re serious about cooking. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, even with the windows open – you get that perfect cross-breeze that makes summer evenings in Verona so magical. The Wi-Fi works well enough for video calls, which saved me when I had to jump on a work meeting, and there’s decent water pressure in the shower, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in older Italian buildings.

The location is where this place really shines – you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the main sights, but more importantly, you’re in a neighborhood where people actually live their daily lives. There’s a fantastic little osteria around the corner that I stumbled upon purely by accident (the kind of place with no English menu and paper tablecloths), and the morning routine of walking to get fresh bread from the bakery three blocks away became one of my favorite parts of staying there. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving – the streets are narrow and finding a spot requires some patience, but there’s a public lot about ten minutes away that’s not too expensive. Look, it’s not luxury accommodation by any stretch, and the decor won’t win any design awards, but there’s something genuinely comfortable about staying somewhere that feels like a real Italian home rather than a sanitized hotel room. The 8.8 rating it has earned makes perfect sense to me – it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

  The flat is very spacious, well laid out and very well equipped (there is everything you need for a pleasant stay). There is a lift in the building. Perfect for families. The pictures of the accommodation correspond to reality.

  What could be improved: Unfortunately, the flat is poorly soundproofed. You hear either the neighbors (when they open the water tap, you hear it – when they flush the toilet, you hear it, too) or the cars and motor bikes outside – especially in the evening it is quite annoying – but maybe we are a little bit oversensitive. I assume that the neighbors also heard our 2 years old son when he was crying in the night 😐
  
  The gate to the site as well as the doors to the builing and to the flat are operated by an app, where you have to log in every time you want to open the doors again.
  
  In order to open the gate and the doors, you have to get identified at the front gate first via the app. When the gate opened, sometimes the door to the flat did not open and I had to get downstairs to the front gate where I had to start the "door opening procedure" again. The pin code for opening the flat door (mentioned in the e-mail correspondence) did not work in my case. Now, imagine that your smart phone´s battery has run out…
  
  You have to be lucky to get free public parking space in front of the building.
  
  During the online check-in which was to be conducted in the above mentioned app, we had to send pictures of our identity cards as well as pictures of us together with the id cards.
  
  And, during the online check in within the app, we were also asked to sign a lease contract for the flat. This was really strange.
  
  And, via this app, we were asked to pay the "city tax" for tourists plus commission fee for the money transfer (this, luckily, did not work for some reason, so we left the money without the fee on the table when we left).

  Zona molto tranquilla di Verona, comoda come l’appartamento dove ci siamo sentiti come a casa.
  Si trova facilmente parcheggio, ci sono bar dove poter fare colazione se non si vuole rimanere in casa e per qualsiasi necessità Sabrina si è resa disponibile, veramente una bella esperienza.
  Non esiterò a riprenotare per un futuro soggiorno veronese.
