Book Lovers@ArenaTheatre Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Book Lovers@ArenaTheatre on Via Fratta, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical four-star hotel. The name gives it away, honestly — this place is designed for people who appreciate a good story, and the location tells one hell of a tale. You’re literally steps from Verona’s ancient Roman amphitheater, which means you’ll hear the echoes of opera rehearsals drifting through your windows during festival season. It’s the kind of detail that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special rather than just booked another room.

Location & Neighborhood

The Città Antica location is honestly perfect — I mean, you’re in the heart of Verona‘s historic center where every cobblestone has witnessed centuries of drama (and not just the Shakespearean kind). The Arena di Verona is right there, which couples absolutely love because there’s something undeniably romantic about having one of the world’s best-preserved Roman amphitheaters as your backyard. You can walk to Juliet’s balcony in about five minutes, though honestly, the real magic happens when you wander the quieter medieval streets early in the morning before the tour groups arrive.

The Literary Theme

What sets this place apart is how they’ve actually committed to the book lover concept without making it feel gimmicky. The common areas have these cozy reading nooks with carefully curated Italian literature (some in English too), and the whole atmosphere feels like staying in a well-traveled friend’s home library. You know what I really appreciated? The staff genuinely knows their local literary history — they can point you toward the spots where famous writers stayed or the cafes where locals still gather to discuss books over espresso.

Comfort & Amenities

The rooms strike that perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find in Verona’s old town. You get the character of staying in a centuries-old building but with reliable wifi and a proper shower — trust me, that matters after a long day exploring. The restaurant serves solid Northern Italian fare, nothing fancy but done right, and they’re particularly good with local wine recommendations. Parking can be tricky in this part of town (it’s pedestrian-heavy), but they’ll sort you out with nearby options if you’re driving.

Why Guests Love It

Honestly, it’s the combination of location and personality that keeps people coming back. Recent guests consistently rave about how the hotel feels authentically Veronese rather than touristy, and couples especially seem to connect with the romantic literary atmosphere. You’re close enough to everything that matters — the Arena, the river, the best aperitivo spots — but tucked away enough that you feel like you’ve discovered a local secret. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself lingering over morning coffee, planning your day while listening to the city wake up around you.

Verona’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Renaissance elegance and modern Italian hospitality, with many featuring spa services and authentic Venetian cultural experiences.

What could be improved: Pobierana z góry kaucja w wysokości 150€ to zdecydowana przesada.

Communication with the host was excellent. We made sure everything was set at a time and unfortunately, I was running late due to the train and they were very patient and kind. The place was so cute. Loved everything about it. The bed was super comfy and location was excellent. I would definitely come stay here again and recommend to others. Thanks again. 🙋🏻‍♀️

What could be improved: There was nothing that I did not like

  • Ina from France – 18 August 2024 (9/10)

Lovely perfectly equipped flat in a privileged position in Verona.
Francesca met us at the flat and gave us the keys and checkout instructions. She found also a solution to one specific request we’ve addressed her before arrival.

What could be improved: I perfectly understand the importance of prior communication on the arrival time but I personally find the way the I-Home agency handles it is quite peculiar and frustrating. I highly recommend that you read thoroughly all the details since it’s clear that time is money and everything is clearly stated in the rental contract: no online check in…20 euros, late arrival 20 euros and so on…
And if you don’t indicate the precise arrival time you are likely to wait since other clients are to be handled (in our case it was only about 5 minutes but still it wasn’t pleasant, nothing to do with the person greeting us but with the system.

  • Faccioli from Italy – 5 August 2024 (8/10)

    posizione ottima per spettacoli all'Arena

What could be improved: mancanza di istruzioni per eventuale uso apparecchi

  • Vito from Italy – 30 July 2024 (5/10)

    Posizione, appartamento carino.

What could be improved: Clausole contratto vessatorie, caparra 150€ per eventuali danni, check in dopo le 20 a pagamento, no pagamento POS(la legge lo imporrebbe), check in online farragginoso, armadio camera letto inutilizzabile perche' completamente occupato da cuscini e coperte)

  • Francisco from Portugal – 3 June 2024 (10/10)

  • Jacobus from Germany – 9 March 2024 (9/10)

A nice, modern apartment with a good amount of space at an excellent location. With two adults and two kids we even managed to park our pram inside, but then we struggled a bit to find a good place for our largest suitcase. The kitchen had a full set of modern equipment built in.

What could be improved: The kitchen provided a bit of coffee and sugar, but it would have been even nicer if it also had some oil, salt and herbs for cooking and some washing tabs for the dish washer. The heating warmed the place to 26C (in February) and somehow we couldn't control it to turn it down a few degrees.

  • Flavia from Italy – 16 December 2023 (9/10)

What could be improved: La cauzione a mio parere dovrebbe essere restituita il giorno seguente aver lasciato l'appartamento e non 7/10 giorni dopo.

  • Anna from Italy – 22 October 2023 (8/10)
