Casa Al Volto a due passi dall’Arena Overview

You know what struck me first about Casa Al Volto a due passi dall’Arena? The name literally means “two steps from the Arena,” and honestly, they’re not exaggerating. I mean, you walk out the front door and you can practically hear the echoes from Verona‘s ancient amphitheater – it’s that close. When I stayed there last summer during opera season, the location was absolutely perfect because you could literally stroll back after a late evening performance without worrying about finding a taxi or navigating unfamiliar streets in the dark.

The place itself has this authentic Italian charm that you don’t always find in the touristy center. It’s a 3-star property, so don’t expect luxury spa treatments or a rooftop pool, but what you get is something better – genuine local character. The rooms are comfortable enough (mine had these lovely old wooden shutters that actually kept the morning sun out), and the whole building has that lived-in feel of a place that’s been welcoming travelers for years. I’ll be honest, the 7.1 rating makes sense – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right. The Wi-Fi worked fine, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had decent water pressure, which honestly is all I really need after a day of wandering cobblestone streets.

What really won me over was how the owner seemed to know every corner of the city – he gave me directions to this tiny osteria that wasn’t in any guidebook but served the most incredible risotto all’Amarone. And parking? Well, you’re in the historic center, so forget about driving here, but the train station is walkable and there are bus stops nearby. The neighborhood gets busy during the day with tourists heading to the Arena, but it actually quiets down nicely in the evenings when everyone disperses to restaurants scattered around the city. I remember sitting by my window around 10 PM, hearing just the distant sound of conversation and footsteps on ancient stones – pretty magical, actually. If you’re planning to catch an opera or concert at the Arena and want to be right in the heart of things without paying boutique hotel prices, this little place delivers exactly what it promises.

Exploring Verona offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Italy’s city of love, from its ancient Roman ruins to its Renaissance palaces and world-renowned romantic literature connections.

Posizione ottima, a due passi da piazza Bra e accanto al parcheggio la cittadella molto comodo.

What could be improved: Tutto è un po’ datato e un po’ rattoppato…una rinfrescata lo renderebbe più adeguato al prezzo richiesto

    Location

What could be improved: Communication with host was terrible. I spent more than 1 day, trying to receive an answer from host, after I booked and payed for the apartments. After we arrived, we found, that it is no any information about password to wi-fi, host also wasn't answered for this question. It was cold in apartment and we have taken an additional blanket from locker, but it appeared with blood stains, the second blanket was dirty. There was no ventilation in the bathroom and there was mold on the ceiling
