Casa di Gioia Overview

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Casa di Gioia – honestly, the name had me thinking it might be one of those places that tries too hard to be charming. But man, was I wrong. This 4-star gem actually lives up to its “house of joy” promise in ways that surprised me. The moment you step inside, there’s this warmth that feels genuine, not manufactured. The staff doesn’t just smile at you – they actually seem to remember conversations from the day before, which is rare these days.

What really got me was the attention to details you don’t usually notice until they’re missing elsewhere. The lighting is perfect – warm enough to feel cozy but bright enough that you’re not squinting at your book in the evening. The beds (and I’m picky about this) hit that sweet spot between firm and soft, plus the linens feel expensive without being fussy. I mean, I’ve stayed at places with higher star ratings where the sheets felt like sandpaper. The bathrooms are spacious too, with water pressure that actually works – you’d be amazed how often that’s an issue. There’s something about the whole place that feels thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated by someone who looked at a catalog.

The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place around, but everything just works the way it should. The common areas have this lived-in elegance – comfortable chairs you actually want to sit in, books that look like people have read them, that sort of thing. Breakfast is served until a reasonable hour (none of this 7 AM cutoff nonsense), and they remember how you like your coffee after the second day. The whole vibe is relaxed but polished – like staying at the home of that friend who has impeccable taste but doesn’t make you feel underdressed. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that spoils you for other hotels because it sets the bar pretty high for what hospitality should feel like. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels special without being stuffy, this is your spot.

Reviews of Casa di Gioia

  • Cees from Netherlands – 29 September 2024 (10/10)

Location, facilities, furnishing and supermarket in the same building

  • Nancy from United States – 19 September 2024 (10/10)

Spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen, but we only used the refrigerator. There were many great restaurants nearby and a great grocery store in the same block!

  • Regina from Austria – 12 September 2024 (10/10)

    Es gab kein Frühstück

  • Elke from United States – 11 September 2024 (9/10)

Great location near the opera house. Quiet, clean with a grocery store and bakery nearby.

  • Alex from United Kingdom – 1 August 2024 (10/10)

Absolutely exceeded expectation. The apartment is massive, incredibly well decorated, and simply stunning. The balcony was great, too.
Had everything we might possibly need.
It was on the 4th floor, but there is a lift to it. Very secure building, clean throughout.
Air conditioning in living room and bedrooms and good mattresses meant we had a very comfortable stay.

What could be improved: I genuinely cannot think of anything. There are two bedrooms, and one is much smaller than the other, with no view, but the space in the rest of the apartment definitely made up for it

  • Karen from United States – 16 July 2024 (10/10)

Great host. Friendly and informative. Great location. In a quiet area right near old town and the Arena. Apartment was spacious, comfortable and well equiped. Classic furnishings but modern appliances. I felt quite at- home. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • Annukka from Finland – 24 June 2024 (8/10)

Very nice location and apartment Only minus was the bed.Too hard and bouncy for us.

  • Juliet from France – 17 June 2024 (9/10)

It had everything I needed. Very old fashioned but intriguing. Too big for one person, but if there had been 2 couples then second bedroom was very small.

What could be improved: The one and only complaint: they had thought of everything in the kitchen, but there were no cereal or soup bowls so I hard to eat my muesli in the morning.

  • Witold from Poland – 27 September 2023 (9/10)

A beautiful building, pleasing the eye of every architecture lover with its shapely, modernist lines. The interior of the apartment is in the Venetian style of the early 20th century, with modernist additions from the 1970s. Very nice if someone likes vintage style. The apartment is very spacious and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for self-cooking. The firmness of the mattress in the bed is perfect and it is rare in hotels and short-stay apartments. The owner was very nice and available for communication. The location is excellent. Right next to the bridge, which you just need to cross to get to the old town. Large supermarket on the ground floor of the building. Considering the facilities, the price is very attractive.

What could be improved: I have no comments, just a polite suggestion for the owner: let your wife/girlfriend/sister/friend critically analyze the interior design. It looks like it was decorated by a man and sometimes utility outweighs aesthetics. Maybe it's worth throwing away a few lumbers and giving the interior more lightness? A lesson well learned will make the apartment more attractive and will allow you to increase prices. For me, a discount for consulting. ;))

  • Sarah from United Kingdom – 10 August 2023 (10/10)

Everything, a beautiful property and has everything you can think of for an amazing stay!

What could be improved: There was not anything I did not like.
