Gate To Verona Overview
First Impressions
Gate To Verona sits just outside the historic center on Via Mantovana, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better planned. This four-star property strikes that perfect balance — close enough to walk into Verona’s heart, but far enough out to actually find parking (which, trust me, is gold in this city). The building itself has a clean, contemporary feel that doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. You know what really caught my attention though? The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests arrive, not just going through the motions.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Verona — everyone talks about staying right in the centro storico, but Gate To Verona’s position is actually smarter. You’re about a 15-minute pleasant walk to Juliet’s balcony and the Arena, but you’ve got free private parking right on site. I mean, try finding that anywhere near Piazza delle Erbe. The Mantovana area feels authentically Italian too — there’s a proper neighborhood vibe with local cafes and shops that tourists haven’t completely taken over yet. Couples especially seem to love this spot, and I can see why — it’s romantic without being touristy.
The Rooms
The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully modern — not trying to recreate some medieval fantasy, just comfortable and well-designed. Mine had this nice mix of contemporary furnishings with subtle nods to Veronese style. The bed was actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and the bathroom felt properly spacious. What I really appreciated were the little details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and windows that actually opened for fresh air. The soundproofing works well too, which matters when you’re this close to a main road.
Service & Amenities
The front desk staff knows their stuff about Verona — not just the obvious tourist spots, but where locals actually eat and drink. They helped me figure out the best walking route into town that avoids the busiest streets, and their restaurant recommendations were spot-on. The property keeps things simple but does them well — reliable WiFi, clean common areas, and that precious parking I mentioned. It’s not trying to be a resort, just a really solid base for exploring the city. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and they’re flexible about timing if you need it.
Why Guests Love It
Gate To Verona earns its 9.3 rating by understanding what travelers actually need — a comfortable place to sleep, easy access to the sights, and staff who care about your experience. The combination of that top-rated location with practical amenities like free parking makes it especially appealing for couples exploring Verona. You’re not paying for unnecessary frills, but you’re getting genuine quality and service. After walking around the city all day, coming back here feels like returning to a well-run, welcoming home base rather than just another hotel room.

Reviews of Gate To Verona
Victoria from United Kingdom – 20 February 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was so absolutely stunning. Very clean and comfortable, opens using a code so not worried about losing keys, all basic utilities were provided, tea and coffee, sugar, coffee machine, saucepans and stove if you want to cook, which we did, a few essentials like oil, salt and black pepper, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, dishwasher and even a washing machine which was great. The sofa also converts into a bed which was comfortable and there was an extra fold up bed if you had more guest. Towels and shower/shampoo were supplied.
Bedroom was lovely and spacious; plenty wardrobe space, light switches by either side of the bed and loads of sockets around the apartment. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was lovely with working g shower.
Dima the host was excellent, he sent a WhatsApp
message shortly after booking to introducing himself and all necessary information needed to ensure our stay was comfortable. ID were sent so we’re were registered, visitor tax can be paid cash or card.
My booking was for 4 days and because I wanted to remain in the apartment a bit longer as my flight was at 9:40pm and didn’t want to check out at 11:00am we paid for additional night, so my fiancé could stay over. We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend this place for a couple or family.
What could be improved: Nothing negative to say about the apartment except the shower was a little on the small side.Renato from Portugal – 13 February 2025 (10/10)
It’s a nice place. Everything is new. Good location to the city. The host did everything he could to make us comfortable.
What could be improved: We had minor heating problems, but it seems it’s normal with the area. There are limitations by law on electricity.Donat from Serbia – 7 December 2024 (10/10)
As we were just passing it was a perfect location near the motorway with the parking on site. The apartment is big and comfortable with all the amenities, neat and clean. Since we just stayed overnight we didn't have time to enjoy longer
