The morning I walked to Piazza delle Erbe and came back with fresh bread and prosciutto – honestly, that’s when vacation really started for me.

The location is pretty solid too, though I should mention it’s not right in the thick of the tourist chaos around Juliet’s balcony (which, let’s face it, can be a blessing). You’re close enough to walk to the main sights without feeling like you’re living in a theme park. I actually appreciated having that bit of distance – you can duck back for an afternoon nap or to drop off shopping bags without it being a whole production. The neighborhood feels residential in the best way, with that authentic Italian rhythm where shops close for lunch and reopen later. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’re driving, but honestly, that’s Verona for you – narrow streets that were designed for horses, not rental cars.

The apartment itself is clean (seriously, they’re not kidding about that ozone sanitization), comfortable, and has those little touches that show someone actually thought about what guests need. Decent Wi-Fi, proper lighting for reading, enough outlets for all your devices – small stuff that matters more than fancy marble countertops. The rating of 8.9 makes perfect sense to me because while it’s not luxury, it absolutely nails what it’s trying to be: a genuine, comfortable base for exploring one of Italy’s most romantic cities without the hotel markup or tourist-trap location.

  I would be remiss if I didn’t spend enough time and effort leaving this review. From the get-go, Giordana and Tito — the founder of the successful Italian clothing brand, Carrera Jeans, with 40 stores throughout Italy — have been nothing but the most accommodating and helpful of hosts. Tito met us at the closed-to-cars Ponte Nuovo and, boy, I’ve never seen an octogenarian on foot beat my (granted, snail-paced) driving into the old town! The apartment is in a historic building above their own apartment and has everything you’d need, except for dishwasher and washing machine. My mother and our helper put up in an apartment just across town, arranged by their kind their daughter-in-law, Lucia. I cannot speak highly enough of the family and their accommodations in Verona.
