I arrived in the late afternoon, dodging a few Vespas on the narrow cobblestone street, and the check-in was a breeze – no long lines or stiff formalities, just a friendly local at the desk who handed over the key with a quick tip about the best nearby gelateria on Via Sottoriva (try the pistachio, it’s unreal). The building itself has that classic Veronese charm, with its pale yellow facade and wrought-iron balconies overlooking the river – I mean, you can hear the gentle lap of the water at night if you crack a window, which is sort of magical after a day of sightseeing.

What really sold me on the place was how it balances that old-world feel with just enough modern comforts, without going overboard. My room was on the second floor – no elevator, mind you, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing – but it opened up to this cozy space with high ceilings, exposed beams, and a bed that felt like sinking into a cloud after trekking to Juliet’s House (which is only a 10-minute walk away, by the way, past the Ponte Pietra bridge). The bathroom had these sleek marble finishes and rain shower that actually worked – none of that weak trickle you sometimes get in historic spots. Breakfast was a highlight, served in a sunny courtyard that smells of fresh espresso and croissants; they source the prosciutto from a little shop down on Corso Porta Borsari, which locals swear by. Oh, and parking? It’s tricky in this part of town – I ended up using a public garage a couple blocks over on Via Emilei, about 15 euros a day, but well worth it to avoid the hassle. The area gets lively in the evenings with aperitivo crowds spilling out from bars along the river, but the hotel stays surprisingly quiet – no street noise creeping in, even during peak season in July when Verona’s opera festival packs the streets.

All in all, if you’re heading to Verona for the romance or the history – and let’s face it, who isn’t? – Casa Panvinio is the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’ve got an insider’s edge. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the far rooms, but that’s a minor gripe compared to waking up to river views and being steps from hidden spots like the Giardino Giusti gardens. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season in fall when the leaves turn and the crowds thin out.   Situated in the heart of the historical city centre and near the river. Daniele was very kind and hospitable.
  What I want to highlight is how comfortable the bed and pillows were. This is something that not many B&Bs offer, so this was lovely. There is a kitchen where you can make tea/coffee, take some biscuits. Overall, the place is very well-kept, clean and cosy! You can adjust the heating anytime, so it is warm in the room.

  Out of the 5 hotels we've been to in our Italy trip so far, this has been the best! From the very pleasant initial online interactions with Daniele to his welcoming smile greeting us, to his detailed explanation of hotel, room and communal kitchen features and facilities, to a large room adorned with beautiful cabinets and comfortable bed, to a well-stocked breakfast with two LavAzza coffee machines and croissants and other fast breakfast items, to the great location. When we come back to Verona, we'll be reaching back again to Daniele!
