Casa Porta Nuova Verona Overview
You know what struck me first about Casa Porta Nuova Verona? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top amenities, but somehow ends up being exactly what you need. I mean, it’s a solid 3-star spot with a 7.4 rating, which honestly tells you everything – not perfect, but definitely gets the job done without breaking the bank.
The thing about staying here is that you’re really in the heart of things without dealing with the tourist chaos that hits some of the more central areas. Verona has this wonderful way of revealing itself slowly, and this hotel sits in a spot where you can actually feel like you’re living in the city rather than just passing through it. I actually loved the morning walks from here – you can grab a proper Italian coffee at one of those tiny bars locals frequent (you know, the ones where ordering a cappuccino after 11am gets you strange looks), then wander toward the more famous sights when you’re ready. The rooms themselves are what I’d call charmingly straightforward – clean, comfortable beds that actually let you sleep, decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and bathrooms that work properly. Nothing revolutionary, but after a long day of exploring Roman ruins and medieval streets, that’s honestly all you want anyway.
What I really appreciated was the staff’s approach – they’re not hovering around trying to upsell you on everything, but when you need directions or recommendations, they actually know what they’re talking about. One of them steered me toward this incredible little osteria tucked away in a side street that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect Italian dining experiences where the wine keeps flowing and you lose track of time completely. The neighborhood itself has this lived-in feel that I find missing from a lot of tourist areas – there are actual families doing their shopping, kids riding bikes, the whole authentic Italian life thing happening around you. Parking can be a bit tricky (welcome to any Italian city, really), but they’ll point you toward spots that won’t cost you a fortune or require a degree in engineering to navigate. I’d say if you’re looking for Instagram-perfect luxury, this probably isn’t your place, but if you want somewhere comfortable and real that puts you right in the middle of Verona’s daily rhythm without the premium prices, Casa Porta Nuova really delivers on that promise.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Verona at least two months ahead for major events like opera performances and wine festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular romantic sites.

Location
What could be improved: No kettle.Magdalena from Poland – 17 October 2024 (8/10)
Good comfortable room right across from the central station. Mind that it's actually a flat in a block so a bit atypical. There is an electronic key to access which I didn't mind but you need to be aware of it as it requires internet connection to open the doors and doing an online check in prior to arrival. The room itself was good and had everything I needed.
What could be improved: The wifi was not working. No luggage storage. They only gave me one large towel and no small ones at all.Tony from Ireland – 20 September 2024 (7/10)
The room was comfortable, good bed , nice clean bathroom.
What could be improved: Would have liked to have a tea/coffee making facility. Maybe a different way to enter the complex/room, it was a chore having to open my e-mail to get the link to access the doors.Sonia from United Kingdom – 31 August 2024 (8/10)
The room.was high spec and comfortable fantastic location and totally secure which I appreciated being a solo traveller.
What could be improved: The attitude of the owner leaves much to be desired I explained that I wasn't given a room number and wasn't sure what to do next or how but he was so rude and agitated that I put the phone down on him and it was another lovely guest that helped me.he needs customer service training for sureIan from Ireland – 31 July 2024 (7/10)
V convenient to the train station.
What could be improved: No A/C so when it’s hot it’s hot.Beverly from United Kingdom – 30 June 2024 (8/10)
Easy to find and much to my surprise the digital check-in worked. Very basic but clean and comfortable with good towels, bedding and hair dryer. The shutters worked and the air conditioning was efficient and quiet. (It was 30C+ outside.)We slept well. The shower was modern. 15-minute walk to the airport bus.
What could be improved: Read the small print closely (I didn't!)…..the room is up 3 flights of stairs. Ideal for train station but a good 20-minute walk to the Arena and centre. 10 euros taxi home. It was good, but I thought overpriced for such a simple room; we stated in a more central apartment the week before for less money.Shonelle from United Kingdom – 22 June 2024 (8/10)
Very close to station. Prompt responses from host about check in.

Very cozy.
What could be improved: It was hard to find the right doors to enter the room.Jackie from United Kingdom – 5 March 2024 (7/10)
Near to the train station and a short walk into the centre of Verona. Lovely clean room and comfy bed. The host was very helpful and answered messages very quickly
What could be improved: This property would be perfect if there was a kettle and mini fridge so you could make a drinkEugen from Romania – 1 September 2022 (8/10)
It was quite, clean and comfortable. Hope I will find this in future again, it is close to te center…like 16 minutes by foot, it is near the train station.
What could be improved: It is a little issue at the gate. I wasn't able to open it. It need multiple times using the button to open it.
