Residence San Lorenzo Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Residence San Lorenzo along the narrow cobblestone street, you immediately sense you’ve found something special. This three-star property sits right on Riva San Lorenzo, and I mean right in the thick of everything that makes Verona’s historical center so captivating. The building itself has that authentic Italian charm — not overly polished, but genuinely welcoming in a way that feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location here is pretty remarkable — couples consistently rate it 9.5 out of 10, and after spending time in the area, I completely understand why. You’re literally steps from Piazza delle Erbe and the famous Juliet’s balcony, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the constant tourist crowds right outside your door. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to dinner in the evening and stumble back without worrying about transportation. The narrow streets around here come alive at night with locals heading to aperitivo, and you feel like you’re part of the real Verona rather than just observing it.

The Accommodation Experience

The residence-style setup works really well if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two. You get that apartment-like feeling with hotel services, which honestly gives you the best of both worlds. The rooms have character — I’m talking original architectural details mixed with modern necessities that actually function properly. What struck me most was how quiet it stays despite being in such a central location. The thick walls of these old buildings really do their job, and you’ll sleep soundly even when the piazzas are buzzing with evening activity.

Practical Considerations

Here’s something that’ll save you a headache — Residence San Lorenzo actually offers private parking, which is honestly a godsend in Verona’s historical center. Most places around here either don’t have parking at all or charge astronomical rates for it. The staff knows the area inside and out, so they’re genuinely helpful when you need restaurant recommendations or want to know the best time to visit attractions without fighting crowds. They understand that you’re not just passing through but actually want to experience the city properly.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back is that perfect balance between authentic Italian atmosphere and practical comfort. You’re not staying in some sterile chain hotel, but you’re also not roughing it in a place where nothing works properly. The location means you can experience Verona like someone who actually lives here — morning coffee at the local bar, evening walks along the river, late dinners that stretch into the night. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your return visit before you’ve even checked out, especially if you’re traveling as a couple and want that romantic Verona experience without the tourist trap feeling.

Reviews of Residence San Lorenzo

  • David from United Kingdom – 4 April 2025 (9/10)

Perfect hosts, perfect location, perfect apartments.

What could be improved: More Kitchen utensils and crockery

  • Yolanda from United Kingdom – 30 October 2024 (8/10)

The hotel where you checked in was very straight forward to find and the staff were friendly. I was able to store my luggage until the apartment was ready and they called me to let me know it was ready early which was very helpful. I was taken down to the apartment which was close by. right next to the river and on the doorstep of the main square. the apartment was as pictured but appeared quite dark on entry as all the shutters were closed. Everything was clean and tidy. It was very quiet and the view of the river was nice. The high ceilings made it feel spacious. And the lift was an adventure in itself as it was glass walled so you could see the old part of the building. There was a great supermarket about two minutes walk away which was sooooo convenient. Plenty of towels and a good shower. A great location to access the city. Get a map from reception and put your phone away or you will miss all the good stuff.

What could be improved: The apartment was quite dark and I had misread the photos and thought there was a balcony, the windows were huge though so when open felt good. It was strange to have a kettle but no where, except the floor to plug it in ? Also the fridge was freezing everything for some reason, even with adjustment. fortunately I love ice cream !! The microwave was good but there were no mugs suitable to put in it !

  • Thelma from Ireland – 22 October 2024 (8/10)

    It was a great location

  • Gould from United States – 12 September 2024 (8/10)

The privacy, the included amenities, the location to the arena and attractions

  • Annanda from Germany – 7 August 2024 (8/10)

Check in was easy, although if you arrive by car you need to find somewhere to park and walk to Reception and they will then accompany you to the apartment where you can also book a parking spot. The property was clean, spacious and importantly, very close to everything to walk..

What could be improved: Finding a parking to check in at Reception is not always easy.
The hotel does have 2 parking spots to use, but they are not marked at all so we did not know where to go when we arrived at the Hotel.

  • Bianca from United States – 27 May 2024 (8/10)

    Location was perfect!

What could be improved: Never received information on instructions for entry into the apartment. You have to go to a hotel which is about a 10 minute walk away- management was very rude and claimed I ignored the emails sent- not true. I received the emails after checkout! Kitchen facilities are very minimal.

  • Catherine from Australia – 23 May 2024 (7/10)

    Fabulous location, very central.

What could be improved: The kitchenette was a bit limited. Kettle had to be plugged in elsewhere. Towel provided for drying up instead of tea towel.
Little bit of updating would be great

  • Goatcrab from United Kingdom – 5 April 2024 (9/10)

Key pick up from reception and then driven to apartment by hotel staff. Driver helped with luggage and explained all about the apartment and how to gain access to it.
All of the hotel staff were extremely helpful and welcoming.
The apartment met and exceeded our expectations. The location of the apartment was ideal. It was on a quiet road and close to the river whilst being a short walk to the main shopping and tourist areas of Verona. There were smaller supermarkets nearby and a larger (PAM) supermarket across the river (5 minutes) with a greater variety of stock.

What could be improved: A spare bin bag would have been useful. We did have one meal a day in the apartment and filled the bin halfway through our stay.
Although it was easy to dispose of our rubbish as there are bins just across the road for general rubbish and recycling of all types.

  • Craven from United Kingdom – 29 December 2023 (9/10)

Great location, felt very authentic of a classic Italian apartment. Good facilities.

What could be improved: Some plug sockets were the old style, including the bedside sockets, not a dealbreaker but I wish we had a heads up to buy adapters. The bed is two single mattresses that constantly come apart.

  • Wiktoria from Poland – 18 December 2023 (8/10)

Localization is excellent same as service! Room all clean and cosy.
