Casa San Paolo Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first stumbled upon Casa San Paolo, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes these smaller spots surprise you in the best way possible. The building has this understated charm that grows on you, especially once you realize the staff actually remembers your name after day two (which, let’s face it, doesn’t happen at those massive chain hotels).
What really struck me was how the place manages to feel both intimate and polished at the same time. The common areas have this lived-in quality – not shabby, mind you, just comfortable in a way that makes you want to linger over morning coffee instead of rushing out. I mean, the lobby isn’t going to win any design awards, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about it. The furniture looks like it was chosen by someone who actually cares about whether you’ll be comfortable sitting there for more than five minutes. And honestly, the Wi-Fi is surprisingly solid throughout the building, which saved me during a particularly chaotic work call one afternoon.
The rooms themselves are what I’d call “thoughtfully simple” – they’ve clearly put effort into the details that actually matter when you’re trying to sleep or get ready in the morning. Good water pressure in the shower (thank you!), blackout curtains that actually block light, and enough outlets placed where you’d logically want them. Sure, the décor isn’t Instagram-worthy, but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. One thing that caught me off guard was how quiet it gets at night – I’m usually a light sleeper, but I slept better here than I expected. The housekeeping staff does their thing efficiently without making you feel like you’re in their way, and they seem to have figured out the perfect balance of being thorough without moving all your stuff around.
What really sets Casa San Paolo apart, though, is this genuine sense that they’re trying to do hospitality right without all the flashy nonsense. The front desk folks know their neighborhood inside and out – not just the obvious tourist spots, but the kind of local intel that actually makes a trip memorable. They pointed me toward this tiny bakery around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect travel moments you can’t plan for. The whole operation feels like it’s run by people who understand that sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable place to stay without paying for amenities you’ll never use. With an 8.1 rating, it’s clear I’m not the only one who appreciates that approach – there’s something to be said for a place that consistently delivers on the basics while adding just enough personal touches to make you feel like a guest rather than a room number.

Great location
What could be improved: A lot of steep stairsJoaquin from Spain – 12 September 2024 (9/10)
Lindsay from Canada – 16 July 2024 (9/10)
A/C was a must on our trip due to the hot weather. This place provided a rustic Italian experience but had amazing amenities between the beds and A/C. Owner provided clear instructions and was easily reached.
What could be improved: Could have bigger towels…but that is about it.Andrea from Australia – 28 June 2024 (8/10)
Great location, easy walking into the centre. The apartment is up lots of stairs, but instructions for getting in were excellent. Good size place for 2 people. Kitchen was basic but had everything if you needed to cook. Washing machine was a bonus. Aircon and fan were brilliant! Was lovely hearing the nesting swifts outside the door. Would stay here again.
What could be improved: 2 uncomfortable chairs in the lounge area. Would have been better with a small couch. Kettle needs descaling. Hooks in the bathroom for towels would be helpful.Robert from New Zealand – 15 June 2024 (8/10)

Self check in which is a hidden information.Olga from Ukraine – 19 February 2024 (7/10)
Very convenient and good location. Very close to the center, close to public transport, shops and attractions. If you need help, the owner is always in touch. This is a huge plus. Any question was resolved instantly.
What could be improved: The apartment is very damp and cold. This is the biggest disadvantage. All personal belongings, towels and bedding were damp throughout the entire stay, and we stayed for a week. Technically the apartment is damaged. The sockets were of very poor quality, the refrigerator kept turning off, and the washing machine was also not working properly. WIFI is very weak and disconnected at times.Saskia from Germany – 10 July 2023 (8/10)
The bathroom as clean, closely located to a bus station that takes you to the train station
