First Impressions

Walking up to the third floor of this historic building on Corso Porta Nuova, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Casapiu Rooms. The entrance is tucked into a typical Veronese palazzo, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. But once you’re inside this three-star property, there’s something immediately welcoming about the intimate scale — it feels more like staying in a well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel, which actually works in its favor.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about the location — it’s genuinely exceptional, and I mean that. You’re literally in Verona’s historical center, just steps from Via Mazzini’s shopping district and a quick stroll to Piazza Bra and the Arena. I could walk to Juliet’s balcony in about five minutes, though honestly, early morning is the only time you’ll get decent photos there without the crowds. The Corso Porta Nuova itself is one of those streets that locals actually use, so you’ll find proper cafes and shops mixed in with the tourist spots. Couples seem to particularly love this area — and I can see why, since you can easily explore on foot and duck into wine bars when your feet get tired.

The Rooms

The rooms at Casapiu Rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple. You’re not getting marble bathrooms or designer furniture, but everything feels clean and well-maintained. The beds are comfortable enough (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s decent storage space, which matters when you’re living out of a suitcase. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, reliable WiFi, and windows that actually open so you can hear the sounds of the city. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with hot water that doesn’t take forever to arrive.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here have a nice rhythm to them. While Casapiu Rooms doesn’t do elaborate breakfast spreads, you’re surrounded by authentic Italian coffee culture just outside your door. There’s a pasticceria around the corner where locals grab their cornetti and espresso — much better than hotel breakfast, if you ask me. The staff is helpful without being overly formal, and they seem to genuinely know the area well. When I needed restaurant recommendations, they steered me toward places where I heard more Italian than English being spoken, which is always a good sign.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about this place is the combination of that unbeatable location with reasonable expectations. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting something more valuable — you’re actually staying in the heart of Verona rather than commuting to it from some chain hotel on the outskirts. The intimate scale means you feel like you’re experiencing the city rather than just visiting it. Sure, it’s not flashy, but when you can walk to dinner at a family-run osteria and be back in your room within minutes, you realize that sometimes the best amenity is simply being exactly where you want to be.

  Great location and price. Room was spacious and clean. Contact with the host, Arianna, was through Whatsapp and largely painless (despite the language barrier). Instructions for check in were clear and easy to follow.
  Booking.com made an error with my payment and Arianna was very patient as I tried to navigate Booking.com’s customer service without it impacting her business.
  
  What could be improved: The rooms are not soundproofed and you can hear everything – so bring earplugs. Also, every time I (or the people in the next room) flushed the toilet or used the shower, the water pump would make a loud buzzing noise.

  The room was large and the beds comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Seemed like location was more business district so food market options were limited in the area, but the tap water was drinkable,f so the search for water wasn't as important. Finding the location was a bit confusing due to another facility on booking with similar name and the name of this location does not show up on Google maps, but the other location does. We ended up walking 40 minutes round trip with luggage for our error of not putting in exact street address on map.

  What could be improved: Kitchen amenities were lacking. Small bar fridge to cater for seven rooms is really not good enough. No cups but you have a coffee machine!

  Very clean room and building. Great support for any question we had, location is excellent. Close to central train station and on the major road leading to the Arena, shops, restaurants and other tourist spots.

  What could be improved: The doors were noisy and everything could be easily heard from the corridor to the rooms. Every morning it also sounded like the furniture upstairs was being moved. Not the best option for light sleepers.

  Great location – we arrived by train so super easy to walk to. Great base for a trip to lake Garda too!
  Lots of space compared to other hotels we stayed in and the air con was a great help on the very hot days!
