Hotel Description

I remember stumbling upon Di Punto in Bianco Home kind of by accident – I was wandering around Verona after a long train ride from Milan, and honestly, I needed a place that felt more like a cozy apartment than some sterile hotel chain. It’s tucked away on Via Sant’Alessio, this quiet little street in the Veronetta neighborhood, right across the Adige River from the main historic center. You know, that area where locals actually live, not just the tourist-packed spots around Juliet’s balcony. Getting there was a breeze if you’re on foot – I crossed the Ponte Pietra bridge, which is this ancient Roman thing with killer views of the river at sunset, and boom, the hotel’s just a couple blocks up. But fair warning, if you’re driving, parking’s a nightmare in this part of town; I ended up ditching my rental at a garage near the university and walking the rest. Check-in was super laid-back – the owner, this friendly guy named Marco (I think?), handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best nearby gelato spot on Via Santa Maria in Chiavica, which turned out to be spot-on.

What really sold me on the place was how it blends that old-Verona charm with modern comforts, without trying too hard. The building’s got these exposed brick walls and wooden beams that make you feel like you’re in some Renaissance hideaway – I mean, Verona’s all about that Shakespeare vibe, right? My room was on the second floor, overlooking a tiny courtyard where you could hear birds chirping in the morning instead of traffic noise, which is a godsend after a day dodging crowds at the Arena. The bed was ridiculously comfy, with those crisp linen sheets that smell faintly of lavender (they must use some local detergent or something), and the bathroom had one of those rain showers that actually works – not the dribbly kind you get in cheaper spots. Breakfast was simple but solid: fresh croissants, cappuccino made on the spot, and these little jars of homemade jam from Trentino fruits. Oh, and there’s a shared kitchen area if you want to whip up your own pasta – I did that one night with ingredients from the market on Piazza Isolo, which is just a 10-minute stroll away. It’s not perfect, though; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and during opera season in summer, the whole city gets buzzing, so book early if you want quiet hours. But overall, it’s got that 4-star rating for a reason – clean, thoughtful touches like extra blankets for chilly spring nights, and a vibe that’s more “home away from home” than fancy resort.

You should totally consider staying here if you’re the type who wants to dive into real Verona life without the hassle. It’s close enough to walk to the Duomo or catch a show at the Teatro Romano – I caught a jazz concert there one evening, and it was magical under the stars – but far enough from the main drag to escape the tour groups. Honestly, with its 8.9 rating, it’s earned every bit of praise; I left feeling like I’d uncovered a little secret in a city full of them. If you’re traveling solo or with a partner, it’s ideal – not too flashy, but just right for unwinding after exploring. Next time I’m in Verona, I’m booking again, no question.

The apartment was great and most importantly location was excellent. The owner always got back to me and was a tremendous help to us on the last day even coming down to meet us as we had difficulty getting a wheelchair taxi.

What could be improved: Nothing at all but would have loved a bath there.
