Hotel Description

You know, the first time I stumbled upon Flats4Rent Casa di Tea, I was weaving through those narrow cobblestone alleys in Verona’s Historical Centre – specifically down Vicolo San Salvatore Vecchio, which is this tucked-away little lane that feels like it’s straight out of a Renaissance painting. It’s not one of those flashy spots right on the main drag; honestly, it’s more like a secret hideout, just a quick five-minute stroll from Piazza delle Erbe where you can grab a morning espresso and people-watch the locals haggling over fresh produce. I mean, Verona in summer gets buzzing with tourists flocking to the Arena for opera nights – think Aida under the stars – but this place is off the beaten path enough that you don’t hear the constant hum of crowds from your window. The building itself is this charming old stone affair, probably centuries old, with wooden shutters that creak a bit when you open them to let in that crisp Adige River breeze. Check-in was a breeze, actually – the host met me right at the door with a set of keys and a quick rundown in broken English (mixed with Italian gestures, you know how it is), no fuss with a front desk or anything formal. Parking’s a nightmare in the centre, though – I ended up leaving my car at the public lot near Porta Borsari and walking the rest, which wasn’t bad, but pack light if you’re hauling luggage up those uneven steps.

What really won me over was how it felt like staying in a real Veronese apartment, not some sterile hotel room. It’s rated 8.9 for good reason – four stars, but with that homey vibe where you can actually cook up a simple pasta dinner in the kitchenette using herbs from the market down on Via Stella. The place has these exposed beam ceilings and terracotta floors that stay cool even in July’s heat, and the bed? Oh man, it’s one of those firm-but-comfy setups with linens that smell faintly of lavender – probably from the nearby laundry lines flapping in the wind. I remember waking up to the distant chime of bells from the Duomo, sipping coffee on the tiny balcony overlooking the vicolo, where you’d catch whiffs of baking bread from that family-run forno just around the corner on Corso Porta Borsari. It’s not perfect, mind you – the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak tourist hours (like evenings when everyone’s streaming), and there’s no elevator, so if stairs aren’t your thing, well, consider that. But for a couple or solo traveler chasing that romantic Verona essence – you know, wandering to Juliet’s balcony or catching a sunset along the river – it’s spot-on. Quiet at night, too, once the day-trippers clear out, though you might hear the occasional scooter zipping by early morning.

All in all, if you’re plotting a trip to Verona and want something authentic without breaking the bank, Casa di Tea’s a gem. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve got your own little slice of Italian life, blending history with just enough modern comforts to keep things easy. I’d go back in a heartbeat – especially in spring when the wisteria blooms and the whole centre smells like flowers. Just remember to book ahead; spots like this fill up fast during festival season.

Walking distance to the city center. Casa di Giulietta and Arena di Verona are only 10mins walking. The property is located in quiet area. Spacious enough for solo traveler. Washing machine is shared facility but while I was there, no one used it so all good. Kitchenware is available if you want to prepare breakfast in the morning and there are some tea bags as well. I love the toaster! Clean bedsheet and shower with the shower amenities. Make sure you bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush. Hairdryer and iron are also available in the room. Smooth and easy self check-in as well. If you are coming from the train station, there are plenty of buses to get to the city center, the journey will take around 13mins with buses. I walked from the property to the train station and it took 30mins if you fancy walking.

  • Lyn from Australia – 17 June 2024 (8/10)

Quiet spot and yet so close to shopping, The Arena, and sighting seeing spots such as the river, bridges etc.
Aircon in bedroom and living area were great and access to the washing machine downstairs was very handy.
    A very safe/secure apartment.

What could be improved: Previous guests had not returned the key to the safe, so we were unable to use it. However the security of the apt is very good so no major issue.
Owner will be fixing this issue.

Cozy apartment in the old historic center of Verona It is within walking distance of every landmark and it is on a quiet street, so you will have the chance to rest after a long day of wandering around, and you won't need to worry about transport.

The property was clean, comfortable and warm (we visited in spring). Owners were super helpful and easy to contact. Property was in a quiet area but minutes from the centre. Train station is 30 mins walk away, but there is lots to see on the way there

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Alexandra from United Kingdom – 27 March 2023 (9/10)

The location is perfect ! And comfy bed, super clean and cute decor. Had everything you need for toiletries (towels, hairdryer, iron and board ect.)

What could be improved: A little bit noisy from upstairs

  • Neville from United Kingdom – 8 October 2022 (9/10)

Great location in the old town: just minutes from the arena and other points of interest. Surprisingly quiet apartment. Very comfortable bed and the apartment itself was stylishly decorated and furnished throughout.

What could be improved: Front door could be tricky to open. We didn’t come across the washing machine and small courtyard until the second day – would suggest including this info in the information pack.
