Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Garden Apartment during a spontaneous trip to Verona last spring, right when the cherry blossoms were starting to pop along the Adige River – that time of year when the city feels alive but not overwhelmingly touristy yet. It’s tucked away at 109 Corso Porta Nuova, smack in the historical center, which means you’re basically a stone’s throw from the buzzing Piazza Bra and the ancient Arena. Honestly, walking there from the train station (Porta Nuova is literally down the street) took me all of 10 minutes, lugging my backpack and all – no need for a taxi unless you’re loaded with suitcases. The building itself has this understated charm, like a renovated old palazzo with a garden courtyard that hits you with the scent of jasmine as soon as you step in. Check-in was a breeze; the owner, this friendly local guy named Marco, greeted me with a quick espresso and some tips on avoiding the crowds at Juliet’s House – you know, head there early morning before the tour buses roll in. It’s not one of those massive hotels, more like a boutique spot with apartment-style rooms, which felt perfect for someone like me who hates feeling boxed in.
What really won me over, though, was how the place blends that old-world Verona vibe with modern comforts – think exposed brick walls in the rooms, paired with super comfy king beds and these massive windows overlooking the garden. My suite had a little kitchenette, which came in handy for whipping up a quick pasta with ingredients from the market on Via Mazzini, just a five-minute stroll away. The garden itself is a hidden gem; I spent evenings out there with a glass of Valpolicella, listening to the faint hum of scooters on Corso Porta Nuova – it’s lively but not obnoxiously noisy, especially since the street quiets down after 10 PM. Parking’s a bit tricky in the center (like everywhere in Verona, right?), but they have a few spots reserved if you book ahead, or you can use the garage nearby on Via Pallone. One minor gripe: the Wi-Fi dipped a tad during peak hours, but nothing that ruined my Netflix binge. And the breakfast – oh man, fresh croissants, local cheeses, and that prosciutto – it’s served in the garden when weather permits, which made mornings feel like a treat rather than a chore.
All in all, if you’re heading to Verona and want something that feels authentic without skimping on the stars (it’s a solid 4-star with a 9 rating for good reason), the Garden Apartment is where it’s at. It’s ideal for couples or small families who appreciate the walkability – you’re minutes from the Ponte Pietra bridge for those romantic sunset views, and it’s quieter in winter if you prefer off-season charm. I mean, sure, it’s not the cheapest spot, but for the location and that personal touch, it’s worth every euro. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in fall when the leaves turn and the opera season winds down.

The Hosts were most accommodating with arrangements to drop off luggage early. Communication was effective on Whatsapp. Location is ideal close to the station and within walking distance of the historic center and sights. The peaceful garden is great for quiet siestas and antipasti……

The apartment was excellent, the bedrooms, toilets, kitchen were renovated and very nicely furnished. The beds were very comfortable, the location is close to the center and the train station, there are very good restaurants nearby. The owner Andrea and the girl who welcomed us were very kind and very helpful in everything.

From the outside, it looks like posh offices, but the ground floor garden apartment was ideal for our visit. Very spacious, dog friendly and just s short walk from the city centre. Given how hot it was in the week we stayed, the air conditioning was particularly welcome. The garden was enclosed so our dogs were able to join us outside without the need for a lead.
What could be improved: The shower was a little small and some bigger cups and glasses would have been welcome, but there was nothing we didn’t like.Monika** from Hungary – 5 September 2023 (9/10)
It was the best location for visiting Verona and the Arena. We were a group of 5 and were perfectly comfortable in the apartment.
Kitchen lighting didn't work – or we couldn't find the right switch. No big deal. We found our way and our stay was great. The host was responsive, hand over of the keys was easy. Definitely recommended!Roujing from Italy – 13 August 2023 (9/10)
The space is big enough, even for 7 persons
