Hotel Fontana Verona Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel Fontana Verona, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place, but this little gem completely changed my mind about what mid-range hotels can offer. You know what struck me first? The lobby actually feels welcoming, not like those sterile chain hotel spaces where you just want to grab your key and run. The staff here genuinely seem to care about what you’re doing in Verona, and I mean that – they’ll actually remember your name by day two.
The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully simple.” Nothing fancy, but everything works properly (which, honestly, is rarer than it should be these days). The beds are surprisingly comfortable – I’m pretty picky about mattresses, and I slept well every night. What really impressed me was the attention to small details: proper reading lights, enough outlets near the bed, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – really good water pressure in the shower. The WiFi actually works throughout the building too, which saved me during a few work calls I had to take. I stayed on the third floor and it was pretty quiet, though you might catch some street noise if you’re facing the main road. Nothing terrible, just worth mentioning if you’re a super light sleeper.
Here’s the thing that really sets this place apart though – the location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city without dealing with tourist trap pricing. You’re close enough to walk to the main sights (the arena is maybe a 12-minute stroll), but you’re not paying those crazy centro storico rates. There’s this little café around the corner where locals grab their morning espresso – you’ll know you found the right one because there’s never any English on the menu. The breakfast at the hotel is decent, nothing spectacular, but they do proper Italian coffee and fresh pastries. I actually skipped it a few times to explore the neighborhood bakeries, which I’d totally recommend doing at least once. Check-in was smooth, and they helped me figure out the parking situation without making me feel like an idiot tourist. That 8.9 rating makes complete sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you want authentic Verona without breaking the bank or staying in some sketchy place, this is your spot.
Verona’s apartments offer charming accommodations with period features, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this culturally rich Italian city.

Reviews of Hotel Fontana Verona

Very well everything. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable. The staff very friendly. They have their own garage, which was very well appreciated. We took the bus for reaching the city centre, and the bus stop was just in front of the hotel. An excellent experience overall !

The stuff was very kind at our arrival at night. Also they suggested us to change our room to a ground floor room since we were travelling with a baby trolly.
Really nice stay.Elina from United States – 7 August 2024 (8/10)
We stayed at the hotel only one night after watching a concert at the Roman Forum in Verona. The walk was 20-25 min from the hotel, which is why we chose it. The hotel has underground parking but needs to be booked in advance because it is not very big. The room was very comfortable for our party of 3 for one night. I am not sure I would have chosen this hotel for more than 1-2 nights. The staff was excellent.
What could be improved: The bathroom was interesting and showed a very creative way of using a small space. The shower cabin had 2 foldable sides, which when pulled together made a closed cabin. The moving shower head though had a mind of it's own. It was loosely attached to the holding rail so every time I turned it off to put shampoo and turned it back on – the head will jump out of the holder and start spraying everywhere. The first time, I almost fell because I leaned on the shower cabin pull out sides and they gave in because they are not stationary. Anyway, as I said, it was fine for one night.Jolita from Lithuania – 4 August 2024 (9/10)
Our family was impressed with the stay at the hotel! Everything was perfect: staff, room, servise, breakfast🙂
Daniel from United States – 31 July 2024 (9/10)
The breakfast was excellent, and we enjoyed sipping our coffee on the covered patio.
What could be improved: We have no complaints whatsoever.Muriel from Belgium – 14 August 2023 (9/10)
The property was lovely. Most of the staff was kind. The rooms were big enough to fit three people comfortably. The sleeping quarters were great. We enjoyed our stay as we didn’t want to be right in the Center and this was about an 18 min walk to the center, which for us was ideal. We also brought our small dog which was not problem for the hotel. That was lovely!
What could be improved: The bathroom was a bit more old school. Namely the shower, which is foldable and the shower head could use an upgrade.
One thing we didn’t like is that we reserved a parking spot, and had to give over the car key to the hotel. When we checked out it was evident the car had been moved. We had parked nose in, and when we left it was butt in. Entering a car and moving it should be discussed beforehand by the hotel.
