Hotel Indigo Verona – Grand Hotel Des Arts by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Indigo Verona – Grand Hotel Des Arts by IHG on Corso Porta Nuova, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. The building has this elegant Italian charm that doesn’t try too hard — it’s a four-star property that knows exactly what it is. I mean, when you’re staying in Verona‘s historical center, you want something that feels authentically local, and this place delivers without being stuffy about it. The attention to detail throughout the property reflects a commitment to genuine hospitality rather than superficial elegance.
Location & Getting Around
Honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you’re here to actually experience Verona rather than just pass through. You’re right in the historical center, which means you can walk to Juliet’s balcony, the Arena, and all those winding medieval streets without dealing with buses or taxis. What I really appreciated was how couples seem to love this spot — apparently they rate it 9.4 for romantic trips, and I can see why. The evening stroll back to the hotel after dinner becomes part of the whole Verona experience, you know? The proximity to major attractions makes it an ideal base for exploring the city’s rich cultural heritage.
The Room Experience
The room situation here is actually impressive — they’ve got a reputation for really comfortable beds, and that’s not just marketing talk. After spending days walking around Verona’s cobblestone streets, you’ll appreciate sinking into something that doesn’t leave you tossing and turning. The rooms have this modern Italian design that feels fresh but still respects where you are. There’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, which is honestly more than you can say for a lot of European city hotels. Each room is thoughtfully appointed with contemporary furnishings and local artistic touches.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here covers pretty much every dietary preference you can think of — continental, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free options all laid out buffet-style. What’s nice is they don’t make the healthy options feel like an afterthought. The buffet setup means you can grab something quick if you’re rushing off to beat the crowds at the Arena, or you can take your time if you’re planning a more leisurely morning exploring the nearby shops and cafes. The restaurant staff ensures a smooth dining experience for all guests.
Why Guests Love It
Look, with an 8.8 rating, this place is clearly doing something right, and I think it comes down to getting the basics perfect rather than trying to wow you with gimmicks. The location puts you right where you want to be, the beds actually let you sleep well, and the staff seems to understand that travelers want helpful information without being hovered over. It’s the kind of place where you feel settled rather than just passing through — which, when you’re in a city as romantic and walkable as Verona, makes all the difference in your trip. Guests consistently praise the balance between comfort, service, and authentic local character.

a pleasant hotel – exceeded our expectations. Friendly staff, small but clean rooms. we enjoyed the pleasant hotel, very well positioned – close to the train station and 10 minutes from the center.
It's not exactly up to the highest standards, but I think it's one of the first hotels where we can say that the pictures look worse than they are in reality…

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great map with tips for a city with so much to do and see. The room is beautifully decorated.
What could be improved: My room was very small. I could not open a large suitcase unless I put it on top of the bed. Windows were internal looking at pipes and walls.Emil from Bulgaria – 13 February 2025 (9/10)
Lady at the reception was very kind and helpful. She suggested and booked for us an amazing restaurant.
The guy at the lobby bar James was amazing. He delivered the perfect service and made us feel more than welcome.

Amazing! Lovely hotel and wonderful staff. Mara was so kind and helpful and gave us such good advice. The room (102) was spacious and well appointed and we also received a card that provided specials at restaurants and discounts at shops. Elisabetta kindly booked amazing restaurants. Breakfast is delicious and parking is very convenient

I had a really pleasant experience. The atmosphere of the hotel is quite lovely—there’s a cozy seating area with a bar in the lobby that’s perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive, handling my requests quickly and with a smile. It really made me feel welcome.
It’s super close to the city center, so you can easily walk to all the main attractions. It’s also within walking distance of the train station, which is perfect if you’re planning to travel beyond Verona.
If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent service, a comfortable ambiance, and a great location, I’d definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Verona.
What could be improved: One regret I have is not having the chance to try the breakfast—there is too many pasticcerias around 🙂
