Italianflat – Al Teatro Romano Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Italianflat – Al Teatro Romano? The name actually tells you everything you need to know – and I mean that in the best possible way. When I first walked into this place, I could practically feel the history seeping through the walls, and honestly, being this close to ancient Roman ruins gives you goosebumps every single morning when you step outside.
The apartment-style setup here is refreshing compared to typical hotel rooms – you get that authentic Italian living experience without sacrificing comfort. I spent most evenings on the little balcony (well, if you can call it that, it’s more of a French window situation) just watching locals go about their business below. The 4-star rating feels about right, though I’d say the real value comes from the location rather than fancy amenities. The furnishings are clean and modern without being sterile, and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab some fresh ingredients from the morning markets. I mean, there’s something magical about making your own espresso while ancient Roman stones are literally right outside your window.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. The 7.4 rating makes sense because while the experience is genuinely special, you’re dealing with an older building in a historic area, which comes with its own quirks. The walls aren’t exactly soundproof, so you’ll hear your neighbors (and honestly, sometimes that adds to the charm of staying in a real Italian neighborhood). Parking is… well, let’s just say you’ll want to research that beforehand or stick with public transport. But actually walking these cobblestone streets every day, passing the same little café where the owner starts recognizing you by day three – that’s the kind of travel experience you can’t manufacture in a big chain hotel. The check-in was smooth enough, though you’ll want to coordinate arrival times since it’s not a 24-hour front desk situation. If you’re looking for that authentic slice of Italian life with some serious historical backdrop, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

Fabulous location on a quiet street but so close to the old city, great shops, restaurants and bars too. Large, quiet flat in a friendly staircase who could want more. The second bedroom with the sofa bed was a bonus as one of us could use it for a quiet space to read!
The flat is very close to one of the old bridges into the city and the funicular to the castle so the view of the castle from the small balcony is very special.
There was a washing machine and the kitchen had what we needed for simple meals.
What could be improved: If I have to say something I would ask for some more hangers in the wardrobe and a hairdryer…Maria from Spain – 26 August 2024 (9/10)
Location was great, big and very comfortable appartment
What could be improved: The shower needed some maintenance. The water leaked out under the glass door and the rusty rack inside could very easily be replaced.
It would'nt stop us from going back though. Overall, the appartment was great.Olive from Ireland – 19 August 2024 (4/10)
