This four-star apartment has that cozy, intimate vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying at a stylish friend’s place rather than just another hotel.

The Space Itself

The room — well, it’s actually more of a complete living space — surprised me with how thoughtfully designed everything was. The slanted ceiling gives it that authentic attic character, but they’ve made the most of every inch without it feeling cramped. There’s a proper kitchenette that’s actually functional (I made coffee there every morning), and the modern touches blend seamlessly with the building’s original charm. The lighting is particularly well done — warm and moody in the evenings, bright enough during the day.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about Borgo Trento — it’s residential enough that you feel like you’re living in Verona, not just visiting it. You’re about a 15-minute walk from the main tourist areas, which means you can easily reach Juliet’s balcony or the Arena, but you’re staying where actual Veronese people live. There’s a little market around the corner where I grabbed fresh bread, and the tree-lined streets are perfect for evening strolls. Couples especially seem to get this location (they rate it a perfect 10), and I can see why — it’s romantic without being touristy.

Neighborhood Discoveries

What really sold me on this area was stumbling across the local restaurant scene. There’s this fantastic osteria just two blocks away that serves the best risotto all’Amarone I had during my entire stay — and trust me, I tried plenty. The neighborhood has that authentic Italian rhythm where shops close for lunch and reopen later, people walk their dogs in the small piazzas, and you hear actual conversations in Italian rather than tourist chatter. It’s the kind of place where you start recognizing faces after a couple of days.

I think what makes La Mansarda Segreta special is how it manages to feel both private and connected. You have your own space with everything you need (including decent parking options nearby, which honestly can be a nightmare in Italian cities), but you’re also embedded in a real neighborhood. The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense when you experience how quiet it is at night, yet how easy it is to walk to everything during the day. It’s that sweet spot between independence and accessibility that’s surprisingly hard to find in Verona.

  The location was perfect, an easy 10 minute walk across the river to the old town in an area with lovely local restaurants and bars only a 5 minute walk away, the bus stop for the train station was also only 5 minutes walk away. The beds were very comfortable, the apartment well appointed and check in/out very straight forward with Valeria the host being friendly and quick to respond to any enquiries.

  Just about everything. The rooms and decorations were quaint, perfect space for 6 adults. The surrounding neighborhood was peaceful and had several shops and a grocery store within a short walk. Old town was very accessible, access via two bridges nearby. Valeria was an exceptional host, apartment was clean and ready. She provided resources on the area and timely communication on any inquiries.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is up three floors, could be a challenge for some travelers. However, there is an elevator available. We preferred to use the stairs.

  Easy to collect the keys from the lock box once we had the info- very clear instructions with pictures. The place is very clean and very nicely decorated. It's very close to all the sights in Verona.
  
  What could be improved: We were a little concerned as we didn't have the code for the lockbox until midday on the day of arrival. The lights were not working when we first arrived, but Valeria was quick to respond and after we tried some of her suggestions, she came over to help.
