Hotel Description
You know, I stumbled upon the Madonna Montecchi Luxury Suite almost by accident while wandering Verona’s winding streets last summer – I was there during the opera season, when the Arena amps up the crowds but the evenings turn magical with all those open-air performances echoing through the air. Tucked away at 9 Via della Valverde, right in the historical heart of the city (interno 21, up on the fourth floor – fair warning, it’s a bit of a climb if the tiny elevator’s acting up), this place feels like a secret hideaway amid the bustle. Honestly, arriving after a long train ride from Milan, I was wiped, but the check-in was a breeze – the host, this friendly local named Marco, met me at the door with a chilled prosecco and a quick rundown on the best nearby spots, like that unassuming trattoria on Via Pellicciai where they do the creamiest risotto all’amrone. The suite itself? It’s not your cookie-cutter hotel room; think exposed brick walls that whisper centuries of history (Verona’s full of that Romeo and Juliet vibe, after all), plush linens that smell faintly of lavender, and a balcony overlooking the rooftops – I spent mornings there sipping espresso, watching the Adige River glint in the distance while pigeons cooed softly below.
What really sets it apart, though – and I mean this as someone who’s crashed in way too many overpriced spots across Italy – is how it blends that old-world charm with just the right modern touches without feeling forced. The kitchenette’s stocked with fresh basics (eggs from the market on Corso Porta Borsari, anyone?), and the bathroom’s got this rain shower that blasts away any travel grime – though, well, the water pressure can dip during peak hours when everyone’s rushing to get ready for dinner. It’s quiet up there, surprisingly, even with Via della Valverde’s occasional scooter buzz or the faint church bells from San Zeno pealing at dawn; noise levels are low enough that I actually slept through the night, which is rare for me in city centers. And parking? If you’re driving in, forget it – the historical zone’s a nightmare for cars, so stash yours at the Arsenale lot a short walk away and embrace the pedestrian life. Oh, and during July’s heatwave, the AC was a lifesaver, humming gently without that annoying rattle you get in cheaper places. It’s rated a near-perfect 9.9 for good reason; everything feels thoughtful, from the fluffy towels to the little notebook of insider tips on avoiding tourist traps like the packed Juliet’s balcony – head to the less-crowded Giardino Giusti instead, Marco suggested, and he was spot on.
Look, if you’re plotting a romantic getaway or just need a Verona base that doesn’t scream “tourist trap,” this suite’s worth every euro – especially off-season in spring when the cherry blossoms line the Lungadige and the crowds thin out. I left feeling like I’d lived a slice of authentic Veronese life, not just visited. Sure, it’s a splurge at four stars, but with that view and those personal touches, you’ll wake up grinning. Just book ahead; spots like this vanish fast.

Very fresh, newly updated apartment in a very convenient location. We walked everywhere. We rented a car for the last day (to go to lake Garda) and were able to park it in front of the building, for 1 euro an hour. The apartment is sparkling clean. Very attentive and responsive host, who patiently answered all my questions and gave me good advice on parking. Thanks, Manuela.

This property is by far the best we have stayed in, anywhere. Beautifully appointed with quality fixtures and fittings, the place was spotlessly clean and catered for all our needs including umbrellas which saved us on the second evening in a thunderstorm. The host was very responsive and comms were excellent. We could not recommend this place more. Superb!

Situated in a quiet area of the city, the apartment was spacious, beautifully decorated and provided us with much more than the bare essentials.

This beautiful apartment defines the word 'Perfection'. Despite the incredible reviews already posted we were still amazed at how elegant, scrupulously clean and immaculate this delightful place was. Situation could not be better as so close to the main attractions yet at the same time away from the hustle and bustle and enjoying a nice quiet ambience. Plus the train station an easy pleasant walk. Although the apartment itself could not be bettered, the biggest praise needs to go to Manuela who made our week's stay as enjoyable, care-free & seamless as possible, responding to any query no matter how big or small with absolute charm and courtesy. A Big THANK YOU for a most wonderful time in the beautiful city of Verona!

This was one the finest properties I have ever rented. Modern, roomy, every convenience and a balcony. The bed was large and very comfortable. I cannot fault the apartment.
The apartment was spotless.
Manuela was a terrific host. Clear instructions and great support for questions. Detailed handbook was most helpful.
Totally would recommend and stay again.
