Hotel Description
I remember arriving in Verona on a crisp autumn afternoon, the kind where the air smells faintly of roasting chestnuts from those street vendors near Piazza delle Erbe. I’d just hopped off the train at Porta Nuova and decided to walk instead of grabbing a taxi—honestly, it’s only about 15 minutes if you cut through the quieter backstreets. That’s how I first spotted Mazzini Suite, tucked away on Via Alberto Mario, right off the pedestrian buzz of Via Mazzini with its fancy boutiques and gelato spots that locals swear by (try the one with the pistachio from Sicily—it’s worth the calories). The building itself has that classic Veronese charm, you know, with those weathered stone facades and wrought-iron balconies that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard. Check-in was a breeze; the owner— this friendly guy named Marco, I think—greeted me like an old friend, handing over the keys with a quick rundown of the best nearby osterias for aperitivo. No massive lobby or anything flashy, just a cozy entrance that leads straight to the suites, which was perfect after a long day of travel.
What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that old-world feel with modern comforts—it’s a 4-star spot with a solid 9.2 rating for a reason. My suite was on the second floor (fair warning: there’s no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing), but once inside, it opened up into this airy space with high ceilings and big windows overlooking the narrow alley below. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender—actually, I slept better there than I have in ages, even with the occasional scooter zipping by in the morning. Breakfast is served in a little courtyard out back, nothing over-the-top, just fresh croissants, local cheeses, and espresso that packs a punch; it’s included, which is a nice touch in a city where everything adds up quick. And location-wise, you’re steps from the Arena— I caught an opera there one night, and walking back through the dimly lit streets felt magical, though it can get noisy during the summer festival season when crowds spill out late. Well, sort of noisy; the suite’s thick walls muffled most of it, but if you’re a light sleeper, earplugs might help. Parking’s a bit of a hassle in the historical center—best to use the public garage on Via Roma and walk the five minutes over—but that’s Verona for you, all about wandering on foot anyway.
All in all, if you’re plotting a trip to Verona—maybe for a romantic escape or just to soak up the Romeo and Juliet vibes without the tourist traps—Mazzini Suite is the kind of place that makes you linger. It’s not some glossy chain hotel; it’s authentic, with those little details like the fresh flowers in the room or the handwritten note suggesting a sunset stroll to Castelvecchio bridge that stick with you. I mean, I left feeling like I’d actually lived a slice of local life, not just passed through. At that price point, especially off-season when the city’s quieter, it’s a steal—trust me, you’ll thank yourself for booking it.

Priceless location, exceptionally clean, comfortable apartment, great for a couple. Easy access to the city, 30 meters from the Arena of Verona.
Paolo the host was really friendly and very kind to help us with all kinds of useful information. We consider ourselves lucky to be able to find this place to stay!

The location is perfect! The space is big enough, the host was very kind and helpful, he gave us a lot of suggestions for places to visit, where to eat etc.
What could be improved: It was a bit cold for us, the temperature of the heating was preset so we couldn't do anything about it. The place would be better if there was at least some small kitchenette (we couldn't wash the dishes so we left them dirty on the table). However for a short stay it was ok.Maria from Germany – 1 November 2024 (10/10)
We really enjoyed our 3 nights here. An apartment with personality and a great vibe. Clean, excellent location and everything you need for a few days in wonderful Verona. Paolo is very friendly and responds quickly. We would come back here anytime.

What could be improved: Couldn’t fault it.John from Australia – 21 October 2024 (10/10)
We loved everything about this place, particularly our host Paolo. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious, the amenities great. it is right in the heart of the city and walking distance to see everything (even for us oldies).
What could be improved: We loved the quaint lift which carries one person with luggage, and you have to hold your finger on the button at all times to keep it going, but much better than climbing the steep stairs to the 3rd floor, while carrying your luggage. The only problem was you have to climb some stairs (17 steps) to get to the lift in the first place, but Paolo did help with our heavy luggage, thanks mate.Luke from United Kingdom – 14 October 2024 (10/10)

Very central accomodation in the old town close to the Arena. Beautiful apartment. Plenty of space and comfortable. It meant you could pop back when the weather was bad then rest and recuperate for the next part of the day!
