Palazzo del Duca Overview

You know what struck me first about Palazzo del Duca? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and I mean that in the best possible way. This 3-star place has this unpretentious charm that honestly made me feel more relaxed than some of those stuffy high-end hotels where you’re scared to touch anything.

The building itself has character – you can tell it’s got some history to it, with those thick walls that actually keep the rooms nice and cool (which, trust me, you’ll appreciate). The lobby’s got this old-world vibe without being over the top about it. I actually spent some time just sitting there with my coffee in the morning, watching the staff go about their business – they clearly know what they’re doing, and there’s this easy efficiency that comes from experience. The check-in was smooth, no drama, and the front desk guy gave me some solid restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the tourist traps.

My room was clean and comfortable – not huge, but well thought out. The bed was actually really good (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which… look, these things matter when you’re traveling. The AC worked properly, the WiFi was reliable, and there were enough outlets for all my devices. What I really liked was how quiet it was at night – you know how some places you can hear every conversation in the hallway? Not here. The windows had proper curtains too, so I could actually sleep in when I wanted to. One tiny thing – the TV remote was a bit finicky, but honestly, who cares when you’re exploring a new place anyway? I did notice they keep the common areas really well maintained, and there’s this attention to detail that shows they actually care about the guest experience. The housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and they respected the “do not disturb” sign when I needed to catch up on some work. With an 8.3 rating, this place is clearly doing something right – it’s that sweet spot where you get genuine value without paying for a bunch of stuff you don’t need. If you’re looking for a solid base that won’t break the bank but still gives you that “I made a good choice” feeling, Palazzo del Duca delivers.

Close to the main shopping and tourist district but far enough away to be a quiet area. Also quite close to the train station.

What could be improved: Limited kitchen equipment such as tea kettle, tea, coffee pot, etc.

  • Karen from New Zealand – 13 September 2023 (8/10)

    Good location, lovely & clean.

What could be improved: Providing washing machine instructions would have been nice as I found it a little tricky to use.

  • Lisa from United Kingdom – 16 May 2023 (8/10)

Really nice sized and clean apartment, however it smelt a little bit stale when we arrived, after leaving the balcony window opened for sometime it was okay! Very good sized balcony. Very easy check in. The Host was really good because I asked him if we could keep it as a surprise if 2 friends came and he made sure the self check in was separate – thank you for that! Thank you for letting us stay!

What could be improved: There was a washing machine, which we washed our clothes with (we brought our own washing powder). However, there was no facilities to dry clothes or anything to hang clothes with – we ended up using coat hangers and hanging it around the balcony area, so it was okay, no big deal. It would be easier and quicker if there was a designated clothes rack in the balcony!
