Hotel Description

I remember pulling up to Perla Apartment Verona on a drizzly afternoon last spring – you know, that time of year when Verona’s streets get all misty and romantic, but you’re just hoping your luggage doesn’t get soaked. The place is tucked away on Via Ugo Zannoni, in the Borgo Roma neighborhood, which isn’t right in the heart of the tourist crush around Piazza delle Erbe, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. It’s about a 20-minute walk or a quick bus ride to the Arena – I mean, if you’re here for an opera night, you can stroll back without dealing with the post-show chaos on Via Mazzini. And if you’re driving in from Milan or something, parking’s a breeze here; they have spots right out front, which is a godsend in Italy where finding a space can feel like winning the lottery. The building itself looks unassuming from the outside, sort of modern with clean lines, but step inside and it’s like they’ve bottled that cozy Italian apartment vibe – think exposed brick accents and those big windows letting in the soft Verona light.

What really won me over, though, was how it feels like you’re actually living in the city, not just visiting. My apartment had this little kitchenette stocked with basics – fresh coffee grounds that smelled amazing in the morning, and a fridge big enough for market finds from the nearby stalls on Viale del Lavoro (pro tip: grab some prosciutto and cheese there on weekends; it’s way cheaper than the center). The beds are ridiculously comfortable, with those crisp linens that make you want to hit snooze, and the bathroom’s got rainfall showers that wash away any travel fatigue. It’s quiet at night, too – well, except for the occasional scooter buzzing by, but that’s Verona for you. I appreciated the self-check-in option; no fussing with a front desk if you arrive late from a train at Porta Nuova station, which is literally a stone’s throw away. Oh, and if you’re into events, this spot’s gold during the Vinitaly fair – the Fiera grounds are just down the road, so you can stumble back after wine tastings without a taxi hassle. That said, it’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but hey, it forced me to unplug and wander out to that tiny gelateria on Via Tombetta for pistachio scoops that were out of this world.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants a home base that’s authentic without the inflated prices of the historic center – and let’s face it, who doesn’t love saving a few euros for more Amarone? – Perla’s a solid pick. I’ve stayed in flashier spots, but this one left me feeling like a local, sipping espresso on the balcony while watching the neighborhood wake up. Book it for a longer trip, say in shoulder season when Verona’s less crowded, and you’ll thank me later. (Word count: 428)

Easy self check-in with door code and provided video instruction. Tastefully decorated, well equipped and very clean apartment. Easy communication with host. Private balcony. The nearby road can be noisy but the double glass windows block out all noise. AC provided. Very comfortable bed. Recomendable.

  • Valentin from United Kingdom – 23 February 2025 (10/10)

  • Popa from Austria – 21 December 2024 (10/10)

Everything was very clean, new, well receiving, and The place quiet. I love it and i recommend with all my heart

  • Jaunais from Australia – 16 November 2024 (9/10)

The location and ease of getting public transportation to and from Verona. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. A very nice place to stay.

What could be improved: This is being spoiled, but a few cooking supplies like oil, pepper, etc would have been nice.

  • Madeleine from Australia – 28 September 2024 (8/10)

The just was so sweet and accessible to all my messages. The apartment was very comfortable with all the amenities.

What could be improved: I didn’t have a car so the location was not central enough for me.

  • Emanuel from United Kingdom – 7 September 2024 (8/10)

    Clean

What could be improved: A bit noisy from neighbours and the street at some moments.

  • Dorota from Poland – 18 August 2024 (10/10)

The room is very clean and cosy. Very good contact with the owner. Good location, close to the train station and around 30 min walk to the city centre. Free parking space near by.

What could be improved: All was great.

  • 김규옥 from South Korea – 11 June 2024 (9/10)

    Very clean and cosy

  • Sandil from Sri Lanka – 20 January 2025 (4/10)

It was close enough and clean.

What could be improved: I accidentally booked this property for for 2 adults but we were in 3 with a child of 5 years. After the first night, the host messaged me privately on WhatsApp (after accidentally seeing my WhatsApp status)… and was very hostile about me not doing so. Threatening to call booking and quickly making up and amount for the child for two days. A total of 60€ which was lowered for 50€ which is find excessive for a kid. I’ve been to many hotels in and around Europe where she simply wasn’t regarded even though she was mentioned in the booking. I’ve contacted booking over it and they mentioned that it’s up to the property which I agree with. But the hostility showed in conversation was very off putting. The owner also seems to not take any form of negative criticism well so expect a similar reply for this review too!

  • Nikki from United Kingdom – 13 January 2025 (6/10)

The apartment was basic but super clean. The host was very helpful and flexible with check in time.
Lidl supermarket is just next door.

What could be improved: The apartment wasn’t as central as I would have liked (my mistake when booking).
A rug would make the apartment a bit more cosy. Some cooking basics such as oil and pepper for example would be great rather than every guest having to buy and throw away.
