When I walked up to this 4-star place, I was expecting something stuffy and traditional, but it’s got this really welcoming, almost residential vibe that caught me off guard in the best way possible. The building itself has character – not that cookie-cutter hotel look you get so often these days, but something that feels like it belongs in the neighborhood rather than just dropped there by some corporate chain.

The staff here really knows what they’re doing, and I mean that in a practical sense, not just the usual “friendly service” stuff. Check-in was smooth (no weird surprise fees or confusing key card explanations), and when I mentioned I was hoping for a quieter room, they actually listened and put me somewhere away from the main road without me having to ask twice. The rooms themselves are honestly better than I expected for the price point – well-maintained, good lighting for actually reading or working, and the kind of bathroom where you don’t have to do weird contortions to use the shower. Small thing, but the beds are firm enough that you don’t sink into oblivion but soft enough that you’re not sleeping on a board.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it manages to feel both professional and unpretentious at the same time. The 8.8 rating makes perfect sense when you stay here – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything just works the way it should. The common areas are comfortable without being overly designed, there’s decent coffee available when you need it, and honestly, the whole place just has this lived-in quality that makes you feel like you can actually relax instead of worrying about touching the wrong thing. I’ve stayed in plenty of places that cost more and delivered less, so if you’re looking for somewhere that’ll take care of the basics really well without any drama, this is definitely worth considering. Plus, you’re not paying for a bunch of amenities you’ll never use – just solid, reliable hospitality that lets you focus on whatever brought you to the area in the first place.

  We very much appreciated the large spaces for our large family. We were a short ten minute drive to central Verona. In the local neighborhood we found great restaurants. Gelato. A bank and grocery store. With so many traveling in our family we were grateful for the washing machine. Parking was spacious and secure for our large van. Towels and linens and beds were great. The reception staff were very helpful to answer questions and offer helpful suggestions for our needs. We highly recommend this place!

  Beuatiful Villa, we had the big apartment which was beautiful and spacious. Friendly and helpful hosts.

  We had two apartments, one for a family of five and the other for two. Both apartments were fantastic. Air conditioning worked well- better than many other Italian apartments. The amount of space in the apartments was great- we had more than enough room. Everything was clean, garden was beautiful. There is a small grocery (Vivo), cafe with good coffee and croissants (DolceAmor) a bakery and a bus stop all within 5min. There is also a park that our kids enjoyed playing in within 15min.
  
  What could be improved: The washer can only handle a few clothes and there is no dryer. This is quite standard in Italy from my experience, and we still greatly appreciated having them for our extended stay.

  Villa Mainard looks as it does in the picture and has everything described. Being self-catering there was everything you needed and if you needed anything extra all you had to do was ask and this was given. The owners were really lovely and helpful. You could even do your own washing and ironing for free. You are five minutes in either direction of a Pizzeria which is excellent value for money. Breakfast was a five minutes’ walk to a lovely patisserie with freshly baked pastries made by hand and excellent value for money. The bus stop for going to Verona and beyond was a five-minute walk and came every 15 minutes. The bus stopped directly opposite Porto Nuovo train station as well as stopping in Verona centre. The town has a lovely Gelato Place, and the mini supermarket has everything you need. Villa Mainard provided free bikes to use, and this enables you to cycle around the town. The room we stayed in was great. The shower pressure was excellent, the air conditioning was excellent too and you could even get one UK channel on the TV which was great should you want to stay in and relax. The kitchen has everything you need to make a meal. For the location, facilities and what Villa Mainard offers the price was very good. There was plenty of room for parking should you drive. I would stay at Villa Mainard again.

  It’s a lovely quiet villa with plenty of secure parking. The family owners are very friendly and welcoming. The apartment was spotlessly clean, had a lovely view and a very comfortable bed. The AC units worked really well which is much appreciated when the temperature is high.
