Residenza Città Antica Overview
First Impressions
Walking down Vicolo San Pietro in Monastero, you’d almost miss Residenza Città Antica if you weren’t looking for it — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This four-star boutique property sits tucked away on one of Verona’s most atmospheric medieval streets, where the cobblestones have been worn smooth by centuries of footsteps. The entrance feels more like stepping into a private residence than a hotel, which I suppose is exactly what they’re going for with that “residenza” name.
Location Magic
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally in the heart of everything, but somehow removed from the tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to Juliet’s balcony in about three minutes, but you won’t hear the crowds from your room. The narrow vicolo creates this perfect buffer zone where you feel like you’ve discovered some secret corner of the city. Couples absolutely get it (they rate the location 9.4, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all). You know what’s brilliant? You can stumble back from dinner at those little osterias around Piazza delle Erbe without needing to navigate busy streets or figure out confusing directions.
The Space Itself
The rooms here feel more like staying in a well-appointed Italian home than your typical hotel setup. Everything’s been restored with this careful attention to preserving the building’s character — you’ll find original stone details mixed with modern comforts that actually work. The bathrooms are compact but thoughtfully designed, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable (sometimes these historic properties sacrifice comfort for atmosphere, but not here). What struck me most was how quiet everything stays, even though you’re right in the centro storico.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this lovely, unhurried feel — probably because there’s no massive breakfast buffet or lobby full of tour groups. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, so they’ll point you toward that perfect little restaurant that doesn’t show up in guidebooks, or tell you exactly when to visit the amphitheater to avoid the worst crowds. I actually learned more about Verona’s hidden corners from casual conversations here than from any walking tour. The whole operation runs smoothly without feeling overly managed, if that makes sense.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it delivers on something most hotels just talk about — authentic local experience without sacrificing comfort. You’re staying where Veronese families might have lived for generations, on a street that feels genuinely residential rather than touristy. The location score of 9.4 tells the real story here — guests consistently realize they’ve found something special. It’s not about flashy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies; it’s about waking up in medieval Verona and having everything you want to see within a five-minute walk, then coming home to a space that feels like your own little corner of the city.

I don’t think there’s anything not to like about this accommodation. Everything about this place is just perfect. The area is beautiful, the flat is superb, the host is extremely helpful, shops, restaurants are less than 2 minutes walk away. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this hidden gem again and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who wants to visit verona

Located in the centro storico, the old historical part of Verona. The Pizza del Erbe is less than 200m away, and the Piazza Bra with the amphit theater about 600m. But it is absolutely quiet because it is located in a small vicolo.
There is a fully equipped kitchen (plates, cups, glasses, cuttlery, a fridge, a deep frezer, a microwave, a stove, an oven, a coffee maker and even a dish washer).
Further more there is a dining table with four comfortable chairs, a sitting room, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom with a washing machine.
The sofa in the sitting room can be converted into a second double bed. Thus, up to four people can stay there with still plenty of space to move.
The best thing about it is that it is on the ground floor and it was easy to bring my bicycle and my bicycle trailor in. The only downside for people travelling with a car is that there is no parking lot nearby. One has to unload and then park the car in public garages, which do exist outside the centro storico (historical center) of Verona.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was fine!Walaa from Germany – 8 August 2022 (9/10)
the apartment was really great, it is located in a very quiet street so can rest very well. You are steps away from the old city and don‘t need to use the Buses.
it was very comfortable clean, was just like the photos.
What could be improved: Nothing, you would enjoy your stay very much.Pablo from Costa Rica – 13 July 2022 (9/10)
The apartment size was great (something hard to get in Europe). Eventhought the apartment is on the same level as the street, it is located in a very quiet and private street and so you can rest very well. You are steps away from the Piazza Delle Erbe and the peatonal streets with plenty of restaurant options. The air conditioner located in the middle of the apartment was very much appreciated for the summer night that we stayed on.
What could be improved: Nothing, we would say you would enjoy your stay very much.
