Hotel Description
I remember stumbling into Residenza dei Signori – Italian Homing after a long train ride from Milan, and honestly, it felt like I’d stepped right into one of those old Verona postcards – you know, the ones with the medieval squares and all that romantic stonework. The place is tucked away at 18 Piazza dei Signori, right in the heart of the historical center, which means you’re basically living in the middle of Verona’s beating pulse. I mean, I arrived around dusk, and the square was buzzing with locals grabbing aperitivi at those little cafes under the arches – think the scent of fresh espresso mixing with the faint tang of prosciutto from nearby delis. Check-in was a breeze; the host was this warm Italian guy who handed over the keys with a quick rundown of the best gelato spots (pro tip: try the one on Via Cappello, just a five-minute wander away). No fancy lobby or anything – it’s more like an intimate apartment setup in a restored building, which sort of adds to the charm, though if you’re hauling heavy luggage, be warned, there are a few stairs and no elevator, so pack light or brace yourself.
What really sold me on this spot was how it blends that authentic Verona vibe with just enough modern comforts to make you feel at home – or, well, like you’re staying in some stylish friend’s pied-à-terre. The rooms are spacious for a 4-star in the old town, with these high ceilings and exposed beams that whisper history (I swear I could hear echoes of Renaissance gossip). Mine had a little balcony overlooking the piazza, and mornings started with the sound of church bells from Santa Maria Antica nearby – not too loud, mind you, but enough to remind you you’re not in some sterile chain hotel. The bedding was plush, the Wi-Fi zippy (crucial for mapping out walks to the Arena or Juliet’s House, which is literally a stone’s throw), and there’s even a small kitchenette if you fancy whipping up pasta from the market on Corso Porta Borsari. It’s not perfect – the bathroom was a tad compact, and during peak summer opera season, the square can get lively till late, so light sleepers might want earplugs. But overall, it’s got that 8.9 rating for a reason; it’s clean, thoughtful, and feels genuinely Italian, with fresh croissants delivered for breakfast that beat any hotel buffet.
Look, if you’re coming to Verona for the romance or the history – maybe catching a show at the Arena or just meandering along the Adige River – this is the kind of place that makes the trip memorable without trying too hard. Parking’s a hassle in the center (I left my rental at the lot near Porta Nuova station and walked), but once you’re settled, everything’s on foot: shops on Via Mazzini, hidden osterias for that perfect Valpolicella wine. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when it’s quieter and you can snag a deal. It’s not flashy, but it’s real – and in a city like Verona, that’s what counts.

The location, balcony, comfort and facilities were all brilliant. There’s also a lift which is rare in old town areas! Coffee Pods were provided for coffee and there were a few washing machine tablets too. Host was easy to contact and responsive. We loved the history if the building. used to be judges apartments where they could go directly across the bridge (now a terrace on the next level) to courts do people couldn’t bribe them.
What could be improved: The place is wonderful; just for information, we had difficulty trying to order a taxi as they have to come outside the Piazza. However the wonderful restaurant people showed us where there was a taxi cab spot, in the next Piazza, less than 100 metres away.Xenia from Australia – 14 February 2025 (9/10)
Location and size.
What could be improved: We weren’t contacted before a member of staff entered our rooms startling us, due to plumbing issues we had reported earlier. I appreciated the attention, but permission would have been appreciated.Lynda from United Kingdom – 1 January 2025 (9/10)

Location was perfect. The apartment was very 'Italian'.
The air con was amazing as the nights we stayed was 34 in the day and didn't drop below 25 through the night.
What could be improved: We loved everything 💜Ruth from United Kingdom – 4 September 2024 (9/10)

The beautiful central location, the classical interior design, the atmosphere of the place.

This place is insane! It gives you an authentic experience of living in a real Italian aristocratic family house. Or at least that’s how I imagine it must feel like :-). The location is the best – in the strict heart of the historic part of the city, however slightly away from the most crowded areas. Cosy, lovely, truly unique.
What could be improved: We had some problems with adjusting the heating appliances, but a call to technical support solved the problemMilcheva from Bulgaria – 12 January 2024 (8/10)

Nice and specious
What could be improved: Uncomfortable bed, need new mattress
The door of the shower cabin needs to be fixed
Couldn’t watch tv, tv not working

It is a beautiful apartment in the very center of Verona. It is best designed for two people, however it was also convenient for us with a teenager sleeping on the sofa. The view is perfect. It is, in fact, the most crowded place in the town and center of its nightlife, but the windows were soundproof. A well equiped kitchen and a big bathroom. If one can afford the rather high price, the apartment is perfect for a longer stay.
What could be improved: Two minor things: If you plan day excursions, as we did, you have to use transportation to the trainstation. But for the city of Verona itself everything is in walking distance. The other thing is, there are very strict rules for separating the garbage and no separate bins in the house.Soon from Malaysia – 5 August 2023 (9/10)
Great location. Located exactly at the Piazza.
What could be improved: Don’t run too many appliances at the same time, otherwise the electricity will tripped. I guess it’s normal for an old building
